Re: Kelly Clarkson
I totally agree that no body type should be shamed
And of course this is a assumption,bc I don't know celebs in real life but when people Say things that a thin celeb looks bad or should eat something it's partly bc 90 percent of them Are not that thin naturally and do whatever they do to become that thin
And there is healthy thin and there is scary skinny on bees celeb boards
Most of the celebs choose to be that skinny
I doubt Kelly chose to be that. Weight
When I see a thin person in everyday life I say dam I wish I had those genetics lol

So let me get this straight.
We can all comment on that AWFUL picture of Brad Pitt where everyone agreed he looked sloppy, overweight, and pregnant. But yet we can't say that Kelly Clarkson looks heavy and not good in that dress??? Ummm, yea. That makes NO sense.
This thread is utterly ridiculous. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion about how a person looks whether we all agree on it or not. And in IRL, while MOST people have the common sense to not comment on how another person looks, it doesn't mean we ALL don't form opinions about a person's appearance...................fat, skinny, tall, short, old, young, etc.
I can't believe a pic of Kelly Clarkson has 3 pages of replies and so much bickering. If you think she looks good, awesome. If you think she looks like $hit, awesome. We're all entitled to have an opinion one way or the other and I don't see the need to fight about it.
Yeah I have to agree.
And is this a new term, "body/fat/thin shaming"?
I agree as well. No one has a problem saying Guiliana rancic whatever her name is lol and bethany frankel are skeletal and not attractive. Why cant we say kelly clarkson looks bad if thats our opinions? I dont know.
I agree with all this as well.
I don't walk around judging people. I would hate to think people did it to me. But this is a celebrity board. We post pics and people comment. judge. Outfits, hair, body, etc.
This picture of her is terrible. Bad angle. Bad makeup. Bad all around. She does not look good with weight on. TO ME. Everyone sees what they see. There are people, TO ME, that just don't look good thin either. Jennifer Hudson? She looks so much better with some extra meat. She is meant to have a curvy soft figure. Her thin, I think she looks unattractive. Kelly Clarkson? TO ME, looks much better thinner.
Why is that not ok to say? It's a matter of opinion. It's not fat/skinny/body/ whatever you want to throw in there Shaming. It's just opinions.
It may be opinions but its part of a greater problem in our society. Women are reduced to their looks which is sad at this point in time. To say Kelly Clarkson is "huge" or Giuliana Rancic is "skeletal" reduces them to nothing more than the projection of their bodies. Why does it matter to anyone else? Its sad that our world views the packaging as somehow being meaningful. What someone else weighs has absolutely zero impact on anyone else's life. Yet the way our male dominated society has developed, women are constantly worried about their looks, about their figure, striving to reach something that others accept. Its bull$shit. Its fine if you don't find Kelly Clarkson attractive - but to go out of your way to criticize her and call her huge - be better than that. The constant reinforcing of one body type being worthwhile and desirable is not benefiting anyone in this world. Its lazy and damaging to sit around nitpicking on someone's figure.

I don't think it's a fair comparison b/c thin people do not have the "world" against them. Hurtful the times it happens, absolutely, but certainly not the same in society.
yes this i agree with. very well said!
Yes we do have the "world" against us. The "world" of people who must make a comment about us being "too thin" whenever the opportunity arises.
Again, if you haven't been "skinny shamed" you have no idea. I 100 percent agree. Don't comment if you don't get it.

There is a point to what you are saying. And I think probably every woman who has commented on this thread agrees with the overall tone of your post. But, let's be clear. This board is not used as a learning experience or a place to , it's where most of us come to see what going on and give opinions. It's like reading US weekly or watching tmz. We don't do it for the learning experience, we do it to quench our dirty addiction to gossip.
I honestly think that if you (and this is the general YoU , not just you) can't take the C&E boards lightly, then whats the point of even reading them.

Wait. Why is it ok to totally mock Brad Pitt because he put on a few pounds and call him pregnant and curvy, equating him to a girl on another thread, but it's totally wrong to say Kelly put on some weight and doesn't look her best? I really don't get it. Is it gender? Only women can be "body shamed?" Can someone explain?

Re: Kelly Clarkson
Well, it's hard to take a certain poster seriously when they've made generalized and stereotyped comments in the past about overweight people but is now crying that the world just doesn't get how hard it is to be told to eat a sandwich. Pot, meet the hypocritical kettle.
Whatever, this thread is getting ridiculous.

This! I know it has been suggested before, but there really should be 2 C&E boards. One where you could post your honest opinions, both positive and negative. The other one would only be for positive comments. But honestly, if you're gonna get your panties in a bunch over a negative Kelly Clarkson comment, you're taking this board too seriously. JMO

Re: Kelly Clarkson
I think that people shouldn't dictate and excuse negative Comments. Saying someone should eat a sandwich is on the same line as someone saying a person gained weight.
Idk if it's to make themselves feel better by saying I'm not that bad because I only comment on certain people and only mock skinny people. Telling some one looks grossly skinny is the same as calling someone fat, you aren't a better poster. And when I say someone should eat a burger, trust me it's not out of jealousy.
It's the celeb board, I want to be able to call Angelina Jolie Skeletor, say kelly C can sing but gained weight, Kimye is trash and Amal Clooney is not pretty & looks like Olive Oil, w/o ppl getting all hysterical. But again I can't dictate how people respond, I just don't understand why this board gets so heated. Lol

Easier said than done. It's more like, if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself. Making comments to a skinny or fat person doesn't help you or anyone else. Unless of course you are an azzhole that needs to shame other people to make yourself feel better.

Re: Kelly Clarkson
Meh. There are certain things that don't need to be said. Anywhere. To me, if x wears a green skirt that she picked out and a poster thinks it makes her look bad, it's interesting to read the opinion. Maybe I'm gossipy. Whatever.
But some things don't need to be said. If y is in remission from cancer and looks skeletal--ok. No real need to type it out. If z had a baby and is clearly having trouble getting the weight off and has to walk around with the extra pounds, it's pretty clear that they must know it and wish they didn't have to walk around like that.
There's just no need--to me--to gawk at how fat she is. But some people love doing just that. And others love reading it. And I like clicking the pictures to see what people are wearing. So to each their own.
Sometimes it just comes off like
ETA: It's like this. If I'm with my friend and we see someone who looks like a fashion victim, I admit that I am not above having a private chat about it. But if my friend elbowed me when we passed a really fat person or someone with a deformity or something that they couldn't help, & got some sort of a charge out of stating the obvious, I'd second guess the maturity of my friend. I'd be like "really?"
People have an absolute right to give their opinions, but if we're talking about where we draw our lines, that's my 2 cents about where I draw mine.
