Thanks for the update
I got chills when I read about Padre Pio. I have been praying to him for your brother since the first day I read his story. My family is very devoted to him and I have a few family members who actually met him in person.
Anyway, I have been lighting candles and praying for your brother. My mother has a Padre Pio prayer group she goes to on Saturdays and I asked her to keep your brother in mind next Saturday.

I'm reliving it again with you. Don't give up. My brother was down for the count and he came back, if not all the way now, there is hope for a pretty good recovery.
With head injuries, it takes a while..a long time. Please be patient.
Still praying for you and your family.

Unfortuantely, Susan and I both know this rollercoaster.
Please stay positive. I KNOW it's so hard to be optimistic when all you keeping hearing is "we don't know"... "we can't tell you anything right now"..."he has a long road ahead of him".
I know they don't give you much to hang on to, but you have to.
Continue doing what you are doing. Praying, talking to him, encouraging him to come home to everyone.
It's been a little over a week. We didn't see "encouraging" signs from DH for almost 3. Hang in there!!!
We will continue to pray for him as well.

For Fred is was about 3 weeks as well. We were just about to meet with all the docs to talk about the what if he doesn't wake up scenario and then he came around a bit, opened his eyes, squeezed our hands and responded to his name.
It was a glorious day.
hang in there..
Now he's just depressed a bit and has short term memory issues which will take a while..

I know how difficult it is to remain positive but you MUST do it for your brother's sake & also your nephew Believe me when I tell you, that your brother is feeling all the strength through your family & all the prayers that are being said for him

It's a long hard road but there is hope. When my brother contracted encephalitis the dr's told my parents to prepare for a funeral that there was basically no hope. His swelling was so severe that they thought he would be a vegetable. We refused to give up hope. The crying, sleepless nights and everything that came along with an unexpected brain injury were heart wrenching. That was 3 years ago and I'm proud to say that today my brother although not fully recuperated is far from a vegetable. He still laughs at our stupid jokes, loves to watch the same TV shows, recognizes everyone and responds to a lot of things. He is also able to communicate. He breathes on his own, walks short distances, etc. The process has been hard but we do see improvement in him. Never ever ever give up hope. Prayers do work....my brother is living proof and Kenneth will be too. Praying hard for Kenneth and your family
