Kids birthday party on Father's Day
We wanted to have my daughter's sixth birthday at Rolling River but they only do parties on Sunday's in June and the only date available is Father's Day. My husband doesn't have an issue having that day and thinks we should just do it but I am not sure we should. I wouldn't want to interrupt anybody's Father's Day celebration but I also wouldn't want nobody to come to her party. Would you be ok with a kiddo birthday party on Father's Day? Should I just find another place so I can have it on a Saturday? That's what I am leaning towards.

Kids birthday party on Father's Day
I wouldn't be happy about that. I think you're putting people in a tough spot. I would choose somewhere else.

I am pretty flexible but Mother's Day and Father's Day I have plans with my parents.
I wouldn't be able to attend

I'd find somewhere else. I think your turnout might be crappy since most people do things with family that day.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think we will just find another place. I do think Father's Day should be for family. We have a wedding on Mother's Day which I am super annoyed about and I wasn't sure if that was coloring my view on it because my husband insists its no big deal. Apparently I need to get better about planning Father's Day so my husband realizes it's a special day. Ha ha.

I wouldn't go on Father's Day.
I think a wedding is a little different than a birthday party. My sister had her Bat Mitzvah on Father's Day maaaany years ago. Nobody did not come because of Father's Day, but a BM is different than a kids birthday party IMO.

Funny you mention this because I recently received an invite (a classmate of my son's) for a birthday party on Father's Day. Granted it is in the morning so it doesn't kill the whole day but it is not a date I would have picked.

I wouldn't do if it is mostly a classmates birthday party - last year we rec'd an invite for Fathers Day birthday party and the mom rescheduled when she realized it was father's day

I wouldn't do it. We are generally laid back about dates but I avoid holidays so that guests are not put in a position to choose.
Even an early Fathers day time would be bad for us as we do things in the morning.

Yeah my DD's birthday always falls around Father's Day too. Last year we did on the Saturday of Father's Day weekend and it was fine

We would go this year but probably only because my dad and DH are going away on fathers day. If not my dad would probably be more upset than my DH if I said we were going to a birthday party on fathers day

I would not go to a party of Father's Day. I wouldn't want to host one that day either bc I would feel like nobody would come for my kid.

I'd do the same. It's hard to commit to events on those days because those days are special. One of DH's friend is planning his daughter's baptism on that day, he called DH before sending invites just to let him know ahead of time and said he'd totally understand if he's not able to come because of Father's Day, and that was exactly DH's response.

I would not attend a birthday party on Father's Day Sunday and I would probably find it inconsiderate to be asked to in all honesty.

We always set aside Mother's Day and Father's Day for family...I still get annoyed thinking about how my sister in law planned her kids' baptisms on Mother's Day and Father's Day...4 years apart, you can't tell me that happened by chance. It put me in a hard position with my family.

I wouldn't attend a birthday party on Father's Day. My rule of thumb when party planning is to NEVER plan a party on a holiday or even a holiday weekend like Memorial Day. I like to be considerate of people's time, vacations, and holidays. For us, Father's Day is a special family day so I wouldn't even consider attending a party that day. Sorry. I'd choose another day for sure.

I would automatically decline a friend's birthday party on Father's or Mother's Day. If it was a family members wedding, I would go but be really annoyed because we have plans with both sides of the family those days.
My DS'a birthday is around Father's Day too, I know it's hard to plan. But I'd definitely find another day and place if need be.
