Kind of disappointed in growth sono... plus 34 week belly pcis
So I had what I thought was going to be a "growth sono" today at 34 weeks. From searching and reading other posts... I don't think that's what I had. My sono was super quick - we just saw some of the baby's body parts, saw the heart, saw a good amount of fluid, and saw that the baby was head-down.
He didn't take any measurements or anything! We asked for the weight and I feel like he pretty much just guessed - he said 4 and a half lbs. I definitely think the baby is bigger! I guess I don't really know though.
It was just kind of disappointing and anti-climactic after not having seen the baby since 19 weeks.
Anyhoo - here's a pic from today at 34 weeks. More in my album!

Hayley mine was the same way... they did take a few quick measurements but that was it! You look amazing, I can't believe you only have 6 weeks to go...

I felt the same way about my "growth sono" at 33 weeks. We hadn't had a sono since 20 weeks and I was so looking forward to it, i even left work early for the appointment. The girl did some measuring, guessed the baby's weight and then confirmed girl for us and that was it! Even DH was kinda bummed. The only comfort I get is that I am down to only 5 weeks before I actually SEE my little

Hayley, you totally have a classic "swallowed a basketball" bellly! So cute!
You know my BFF is due 2 days after you. On Saturday she said her baby was measuring at 4 lbs, so I think 4 1/2 lbs sounds about right!

OMG I love your belly- so awesome! perfect boy belly!
Sorry your growth sono was dissapointing, that's how I felt at my ultrascreen when the lady turned the screen away from me and only gave me 2 pics

You are completely all belly!!!! I'm so jealous!
The growth sono is really to make sure the baby is practicing breathing and to measure kicking (from what I remember). It is pretty quick.
You will see your  soon!!!

Aw, sorry you were disappointed...
Think of it this way, at least you got another sonogram. I am 36 weeks and have not seen my little  since 20 weeks at the anatomy scan. And unless there are any concerns, I will not be getting any more sonograms and will have to wait until the baby arrived to see him/her!

First of all: You look fantastic!!!
Second, he probably didn't guess, he likely saw the measurements, then told you the estimated weight..it is disappointing that he didn't go into it more...
at least you weren't told, he was "gigantic" and was measuring three weeks ahead of schedule, and that if he keeps growing, you will be re-tested for GD! Did you get a pic of your ?

I had my growth sonogram yesterday and felt the same way. We were in and out in about 5 minutes. The doctor said, there is the head, kidneys, liver, etc, your fluid is good and the baby is measuring 5lb 10oz. I got 4 pics to take home with me but they were so bad that I threw them away, you couldnt make out anything.
DH and I were so disappointed, we expected more also. The only good thing is that we are only 6 weeks away from seeing our little ones.
Also, you look great, you have the cutest belly!

I was a little disappointed too. We were told they would be using the 3-D sono technology for it, so we were super psyched. But the baby didn't really cooperate, so we only got two 3-D pictures of his face. He faced the other way the whole time.
My favorite sono was still 12 weeks, I think that was the one I was the most amazed at, because all of a sudden there was a baby, where there was just a spot before. 20 weeks was cool too because we found out.
I have been having them every visit now at the end, and they have lost their magic. The baby is too big to really see anything. She just measures my fluid level, makes sure his head is still down.

I had mine at 31 weeks and felt the exact same way. I also expected to get 3d pics and just got a a blurry shot of the baby's face :) She just told me the weight and said that it was good.

That stinks that the sono wasn't what you'd hoped, but at least you got one. My office didn't do growth sono's. Did you get any pics at least?

growth sonos are very quick sonos compared to other ones you get. they are taking measurements but not like the level 2.

Wow - you look fantastic!!! You should just bring your skinny jeans to the hospital - you will be wearing them home  
I had regular growth sonos with Cailen - they are nothing earth shattering - the cord went through the placenta weird so they wanted to make sure he was getting nourished - they do a quick check and see things are progressing appropriately - its GOOD if they don;t make it a whole song and dance - it means they aren't concerned about anything!!!
