Kindergarten Questions
My DS is going to kindergarten next year. Right now he is in a private school that has a kindergarten montessori program and I am trying to compare the curriculum of that school vs. public school. Are there any teachers on this board that can help me understand what they are teaching them?
How much time is spent on walking them through the "rules" or the class? What are they expected to learn by the time they go into first grade?

Re: Kindergarten Questions
If your Montessori program is NOT Common Core based, then I say send him there.
My experience with Montessori is that its very creative and child-centered... as Kindergarten SHOULD be.
In public school, its all reading and math. Gotta get ready for those state tests

Re: Kindergarten Questions
My kids went to Montessori pre school and are now in public. In NC, but we do common core. They are expected to read basic readers by the end of first. They are assessed regularly an din my school they address if they feel a child is falling behind. One of my sons is very into reading and has done extremely well. My other son was not interested, but now with some extra attention is dong awesome as well. So far, I dont have a big issue with common core, but it is Kindergarten...
