Re: Kitchen Cabinets - Any recommendations?
I got American Woodmark cabinets through Home Depot and couldn't be happier 4 years later. They are semi-custom so we were able to get pretty much exactly what we need. I know several people here and IRL have used Ikea and have been very happy. Sometimes people hear Ikea and think of their typical pressboard stuff but apparently the kitchen division a separate business, you might even be able to swing them installing the cabinets for you. Not sure what you are considering for counters but whatever you do, don't get black galaxy granite - or at least keep the warning in mind. It is a beyotch to keep smudge and fingerprint free. My biggest regret in remodeling thus far - i'd rip them out and install something else if I had money to burn.

Okay based on what everyone else has seen...we went to Home Depot tonight with our measurements and sat down with a designer for almost 2 hours. She was actually really knowledgeable and helpful BUT when she totaled it up...it was almost $15,000 (us installing cabinets ourselves with them installing countertop). I could have fainted. The cabinets were Kraftmaid and it was based on a maple cabinet that would be finished white. I know all kitchens are different but if you could give me your input I would appreciate it!
Can you tell me how many feet of cabinets you have and what line @ HD they are quoting you? I bet my Dad (Dynamic Kitchens) can give you them for less.

we went to Lowes this weekend to get a quote and they came up with $19 k. And we don't have a lot of room. Our kitchen is pretty small actually, but I want to add a bar with cabinets underneath. So that is for 38 ft.

Danielle and I just ordered sold wood cabinets made in the US from them. We are paying half of what Family kitchens in Bethpage wanted. We are getting a medium nutmeg color with black glaze.
We are also getting the granite from him - they had the best price
Their store front is in Huntington station. The guys name is John.
Rachael - also bought her cabinets there and she already has hers. Scott
YUP! i did, and i am extremely happy with them. they are beautiful!

38 feet for custom in maple with 3/4" boxes and solid maple doors by us would be $10,716
Again- CUSTOM.. no filler or wasted space.
