Kitchen floor Tiles . . . questions and opinions needed
WHere did you find your floor tiles? we bought tiles before that we loved from HD. does anyone have anything bad to say about HD tiles? are they poor quality?
#2 - i love the giant sized tiles. pros / cons?
#3 - would you have "an issue" with using the same floor tile and carrying it through to the dining room? do you believe that it HAS to be different, even in an open floor plan?

Re: Kitchen floor Tiles . . . questions and opinions needed
Well, for me, I sometimes like tile in the kitchen but I don't think I'd carry it into the Dining Room. That might be a little much - I mean, in Arizona or something it is probably fine but I think I would do wood floors in the dining room and just leave the tile in the kitchen.
For tile, try to find a wholesale person - not only for better quality (not that HD is bad) but if you can get better quality and not pay retail prices why not, right? I haven't started my search for good wholesale tile people but they have to be in the same places as all the wholesale wood and granite guys -- over in Islandia behind the big shopping center there where D&B is -- there is a two block section of all industrial wholesale people that do wood, granite, and I'm sure cut, sell, and install tile. Then, over in Deer Park they have the same type of place - right on Brook Avenue - just one little garage after another where they make this stuff. It is amazing - I was just there the other day for something else. I would take a ride, don't be afraid to walk right in and ask some ?s about what they have and prices - the prices vs. retail places will knock you over!

Oh there def is. I just am not familiar with the areas. I know, and this is going back 25 years, that my parents got their cabinets wholesale down in the Industrial area of Freeport. But that was a while back and I'm not sure if that is still the place to go for that.
Maybe other people who know Nassau can answer better and give you some recs as to where to go.

Becareful of getting giant tiles. My mother in law has them and they are all cracked and chipped. I think the reason is that the subfloor was not prepped correctly and some tiles were uneven

you probably already know the place, but what about Below Wholesale Flooring in Lindenhurst. That is where we are going to look for our tile for the laundry room.
And the tile in the kitchen and DR, not really sure of that. Wood floors look nicer in the DR, but I have seen tile in kitchen and DR. Do you have pics of the kitchen and DR that we can see?

We got our tiles for our bathroom at HD. I haven't had any problems what-so-ever with them. The floor tiles are 12x12 and the wall tiles are 8x12(?).
I think if you have a very open floor plan it would be fine to carry the tiles thru to the dining room. It'll look even bigger. As long as you choose the right color, it will look fabulous!

can you get differnt size tiles.... I am not sure to carry it through to the dining room though....
wghen I was lookin gat tile for our kitchen and foyer...there was a significant difference in quality, thickness and texture from home depot tiles and other tile places. Since the floor get a ton of wear and tear, we wanted more durable thick tiles...
