Re: KitchenAid Mixer-Yay or Nay

I think it does! I have found that I acutally save time as I can throw everything in there that needs to be mixed & walk away & continue doing whatever else needs to be done before i combine the entire recipe

YES! I make tons of cookies every Christmas and when I use my mixer I can walk away for a few minutes. Just makes life easier!

Re: KitchenAid Mixer-Yay or Nay

I definitely think so. You can mix so much more using the KitchenAid stand mixer than you can with a regular hand mixer. I can make so many batches of Christmas cookies with my KitchenAid mixer.

I also use it to make Irish Soda Bread around St. Pat's Day. What a difference! It's awesome.

But you have to actually USE it for it to be worth the price. I have mine in a readily accessible area in the kitchen, so it's not a hassle to get to and use. It's big and heavy, and a lot of my friends who have one don't really get to use it becuase it's tucked away in a closet somewhere.

For the occassional cake, cupcakes or brownies I still use my hand mixer though.

Sorry I don't mean to take-over your post, but I've been debating to get one too.

My mom overheard me taking about it and said if you want it I'll get if for you for Christmas. But I'm afraid I might not use it that much, except for cookies.

What else can you use it for, other than cookies?Chat Icon ~sorry if this sounds stupid

well... they sell all kinds of attachments for them too- shredder attachements, an ice cream maker attachment, a meat grinder attachement... those make it more usefull, too! i use mine mostly around christmas time when i make cookies. BUT, like somebody else said i think you get more use out of it when you keep it out on your counter all the time and don't have to lug it out of a cabinet to use- because they are heavy!!

Re: KitchenAid Mixer-Yay or Nay

Definitely worth it. It saves time - while it's mixing, you can get other stuff ready. I also think it mixes faster than a hand mixer. I also leave mine out and readily accessible (I just rinse the bowl before I use it). If I had to lug it out of somewhere, it would never get used.

don't feel bad... I got mine for my shower in May '04 and haven't used it yet. I did take it out of the box a few months ago bc my mother kept asking if I used everytime she visited. Last time she was here, I just said "It's out the box isn't it"

YAY!

I was reluctant to add it to my registry when we were engaged, I am SO happy I did! I used it for Thanksgiving desserts of the 1st time ever and WOW! I am so impressed with it. I wish I had the counter space to keep it out all the time b/c I would use it for a lot more than just baking. When we finally have a house, that sucker is going to get a lot of use!

I got it yesterday. I just got the classic one but it was a steal. I paid around $160 for it and then got $30 Kohl's cash on top of that.
Can't wait to try it out next weekend.
