ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
is the 9 months without Aunt Flo (funny term, this is my first use of it ever ) less than or equal to the pain of pregnancy and child birth.
I have massive cramps right now...and 9 months without is looking pretty good right now...especially when there could be massive drugs and an epidural involved.

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
I'd rather have my period than be pregnant and give birth. Believe me, it's a wonderful thing. But I'd much rather pop a few Tylenols for my cramps than walk around with a huge belly and swollen ankles. Labor pains are like period cramps times 1,000.
Let's not get into recovery from a c-setction...

Lol, I haven't given birth yet but I am 5 1/2 months pg and I will tell you so far between the morning sickness, the cramps from uterus stretching, the heart burn, the insomnia, the exhaustion, the pimples like AF is coming but NEVER go away - I'll take AF for a few days a month anyday

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
Not a mom yet, but I remember once I had the WORST cramps I have ever had in my life...I could not get out of bed, I was nauseous and I had to keep a heating pad on my stomach. I also couldn't stop squirming, the pain was so bad. A friend of my mom's had a medical dictionary and she looked it up for me, and there was some specific AF cramps that compare to childbirth
feel better

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
You have no idea. I had to endure back labor for close to 10 unmedicated hours. The pain starts in your back and radiates all around to the front of your belly, and the pain is about 100X worse than your worst period cramps (and I've had period cramps so bad that I've passed out - that was NOTHING).
I'd take period cramps ANY day. And, like Stefanie, they are a cake-walk compared to your recovery from a c-section

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
Hmmmm.....well, I've only had really bad AF cramps I think twice in my life. AF is not that bad for me. Being PG wasn't that bad either. I just felt really uncomfortable in my body, like I was going through puberty all over again.
Giving birth wasn't that bad either, and labor pains to me felt nothing like AF cramps. Totally different type of pain. The epidural is awesome though! The episiotomy recovery, not so much.
So, I don't know which I'd choose, since neither is/was that bad....
Feel better though! And get out the heating pad!

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
For me it is a toss up. When I was younger I had the worst cramps, severe pain, causing me to vomit. Although labor pains are much, much worse, especially towards the end, for me it was 13 hours of agony compared to the 6 days I had with AF. And the end result of labor is far better.

You'll need to wear a pantiliner everyday.
As for the pain of pregnancy....I never expected there to be so much pressure in my butt. There is more pressure there than in the birth canal. Its so odd!

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
OMG I would so take AF every month than being pg.
Basically between DD, BF'ing and this pg, I haven't had AF in 2 years and I miss her.
I hardly get bad cramps during AF, but labor pains were a million times worse, I HATE what PG does to every aspect of your body, and I had a rough delivery with and epiosotomy, took the epi, but the recovery was horrendous for me! I couldn't walk more than a few steps for 2 weeks medicated, it was awful for me and I still have lingering problems left from DD from over a year ago.
I'll take using tampons, the temp bloating, and other AF things for a week ANY DAY!

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
keep in mind, Jess, that you still get AF like cramps when you are PG. I get them on and off. As the baby grows, your uterus needs to grow too.

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
Now that I know this thread wasn't serious but just a vent about cramps, I won't bother with labor pain info.
I will say this...I really liked not having to deal with that for 10 months even though the cramping was just as bad while pregnant.
Take some advil!

Re: ladies that have given birth...can you please tell me
Jessica -
One of the BEST things for me was no AF - I had no discharge, nothing...
I also had a C section, so there was no labor pain - just recovery stuff, which to me was not as bad as pms & AF... it sucked bleeding for days on end after I gave birth, but not a big deal...
