I agree that you should wait and see how your cat reacts once the baby comes home. Our cat is a very curious, playful, snuggly cat. But since we brought DD home, he's been kinda "freaked out" by the baby and doesn't really come near her. Today he jumped up on our bed, and DD was laying next to me. He came close enough to sniff her hand, but then he made a flying leap off the bed!
I think the crib tent is a great investment.

I don't have a cat, but was told something in my child prep class that might be helpful. The instructor told us to blow up balloons and put them in the crib. Of course before the baby is born. She said the cats are afraid of the balloons, so if they go to jump into the crib, they will get freaked out. I guess they will eventually learn to stay away.
