Ladies with bad backs, Can you rec a sling/baby carrier?
DD is having stomach issues and only wants to be held but I can't all day.
Can you rec a sling? I have rods in my back so I need one that will work well with my back. TIA

I have herniated discs in my back and neck and used the bjorn and once he got big enough, I used the hip hammock.

I LOVE the ultimate baby carrier - I don't have a bad back but mine hurt with the bjorn. A couple of moms with shoulder or back problems I know got the ultimate carrier after I recommended it and loved it. It is a long piece of stretchy material that you can tie around yourself in different positions (sling, front carrier -facing you or away from you, side carrier or back carrier etc) and so it gives a bit - and is very comfortable. DD liked it too - it was the only thing she would let me carry her in.
I got mine at BRU but here are some pictures I found of it:

Re: Ladies with bad backs, Can you rec a sling/baby carrier?
I had major back surgery a few years ago and still suffer at times.
I used the Baby Bjorn for our Baby Salsa classes (yes, she in the Bjorn and me dancing). Then I got the Bjorn Sport and OMG what a huuuuuuuge difference.
I couldn't use the wrap around type, just wasn't supportive enough for me.

I'm really interested to see what you all recommend as well--I just had back surgery last month, and so far DH does all the carrying...but I don't want it to be that way forever!
The ultimate carrier looks great because it looks like you can wrap it tightly for extra lumbar support...

I had the Evenflo snugli with DD and I do not recommend it. I found it very difficult to use and it just never felt like it was put together correctly....so I would end up taking her out.
My two closest friends both had the Baby Bjorn and loved it. I think I am just going to borrow one of theirs this time around.

I don't have a bad back, but I love my carrier, its similar to the Ergo, its called the Beco Butterfly---I still use it with my 20lb+ son and it feels great. It has great weight distribution so its not pulling at my shoulders like my Bjorn did.
