Lasik/Laser Surgery

I've been wanting to get this done for a very very very long time and think that this will be the year (probably getting it done right before Thanksgiving). Who has had it done? What was your experience? Do you have astigmatism? How long did it take for you to recover?

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

DH just had this done last weekend and he is soooo happy with the results. he was feeling better and could see so much better the next morning. I beleive it takes like 2-3 months to fully recover and in that time your vision is suppose to get better and better.
I believe that he was near sighted and he did have astigmatism. he also had the halos really bad during night driving.
He went to Gotham Lasik in the city. I highly recomment his DR, he had such a great bedside manner that DH felt very relaxed.

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

I had it done in 2001 and I have better than 20/20 now and my eyes were HORRIBLE.

I had no complications, haven't had any problems since.

I was able to see things on the car ride home. I was able to make out license plates from the cars infront. I remember how excited I was with my mom.

For the next few days recovery was a little uncomfy...it felt like I had sand in my eyes... a very gritty feeling.

But within a few days I was fine!

Smoke would bother my eyes BAD for awhile...(you could still smoke indoors then so it was an issue for me)

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

I had it done in 2002. I freaking LOVE it. I was nearly legally blind before the surgery. I had perfect vision for the next 6 years.

My vision started getting a little hazy when I was pregnant with my son. The pregnancy affected my vision and I probably need to have my vision "tweaked" after this baby is born. My OB/GYN said it is normal for pregnancy to cause your vision to deteriorate slightly. I have to wear reading glasses with the computer. Otherwise, I am perfectly fine!

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

My brother had it done about a month ago and he loved it!!! It was a little painful at first and he said that his eyes burned. I think he was perfect after two weeks or so. He went to Dr De La Russo.

That is what happened to me. My eyes got worse during pregnancy and just after that. What some people do not get is that your eyes will continue to progress at the same rate that they would have if you didn't have LASIK. So the fact that I need glasses 10 years later is not related to the procedure at all.

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

I had lasik surgery in August of 2009. My vision prior to surgery was 20/600 and now it is 20/25....better than perfect. I did have astigmatism and they were able to correct that. My doctors name was Vincent Basilice from the ophthalmic center located in east setauket. I can't say enough great things about him and his staff!! They all made me feel really comfortable and answered all the questions I had. I went for a consultation which was free and they examined my eyes and told me which procedure would be best and explained to me and outlined evvvvverything that was to happen. You are awake for the whole procedure and they literally operated for about 20 seconds on each eye. I was laying down and as soon as they lifted me up from the table Dr. Basilice told me to look a the clock. From that moment I started crying because for the first time in my life I was able to read the clock on the wall from a distance lol Sounds pathetic but those of you who can't see with out glasses you can relate!! I went home that day and he gave me a sleeping pill to sleep for 6-8hours post surgery. I slept with clear eye shields on my eyes to protect myself from rubbing my eyes. I put in numerous drops in my eyes for about a week. I was able to go back to work the next day. It was completely painless! It was by far the best thing I have ever done! I highly recommend the surgery to all who are interested!! Anymore questions you may have please don't hesitate to ask!!! I hope this post helps!! xoxo

Re: Lasik/Laser Surgery

I had it a number of years ago and now I am told I need to get my eyes done again. My eyes are still good but not as good as they were months even the first few years after the surgery.

Please keep in mind the surgery is not a permanent fix for everyone. You may need to go for corrective surgery down the road. I am opting not to do it again since I dont want to keep on screwing around with my eyes.
