Latest Update from Sarahs Mom: (little girl in Johnnys school waiting for a heart....)
Latest Update, Today at Noon:
Sarah is having a great morning so far. She and her new heart are getting to know each other and all the initial indications are positive. Her surgeon has come in to check on her and he is pleased with everything he is seeing and hearing. In fact, they have even removed one of her chest tubes this morning. While being given narcotics to keep her comfortable, the plan for today was to see if Sarah would be able to wake up and follow commands. Already she has opened her eyes a couple times, grimaced while getting an x-ray and nodded her head in answer to questions. All good signs.
To think that we went to bed Thursday night thinking it would be just the typical weekend routine. Then suddenly, in the middle of the night, we finally got the call we had been waiting so long to receive. Yesterday was a blur as we tried to prepare ourselves for the operation all the while knowing that the offer could fall through as sometimes happens. When we finally received the green light and the news that the heart was on its way, we had only about ten minutes to breath a sigh of relief and say our goodbyes. It was really happening. Only now is the reality sinking in that we are finally on a path to go home.
Thank you to everyone for all the messages and prayers. Please keep them coming. Tomorrow’s plan to remove the breathing tube is a really big deal. Sarah’s lungs have always been an issue. The next five days are critical, but so far so good.
UPDATE #2: I received an email from sarahs mom at 10pm last night...the heart started beating almost immediately after the transfer, the only complication has been a little bleeding that they were trying to get under control but other than that the update sounded positive...no updates since then, i'm sure they will send out another email message today at some point!
After 8 long months in CHOP (childrens hospital of philadelphia) and fighting infection after infection, Sarahs family received news this morning that they have a perfect donor heart for her...
She gets prepped for surgery later today if all goes well (heart is being inspected but seems to be perfect for her..).
The family asked for as many prayers as possible. She is 4 years old, scared out of her mind and just very tired. Also they would like you to pray for the family that had to go through agony yesterday as they lost their child and gave the gift of life to another child

I feel awful  for the family who lost their child but how wonderful for little Sarah that she will get a second chance. That is amazing!! I hope all goes well.
