Re: Left-handed question.
I'm left-handed when I write and eat. Most everything else (throwing, batting, scissors, etc) is done with my right-hand.
I don't write with my hand hooked and laying on the paper but if I do put my hand down, it's right on the ink so I usually use pens that don't lay a lot of ink down and are fast-drying.
I also try to sit on the left end or the end of a crowded table so I don't bump elbows with a righty. I can eat with my right-hand if necessary and not look too awkward but it's just easier to claim the left end or the end.
What annoys me is the pens attached to the right side of the credit card signature machine. They are usually all twisted up so I have to reach and contort my hand to sign it. They should just attach the pen to the top of the machine on a swivel.

Re: Left-handed question.
My mom is a lefty and teaching me how to bowl was the hardest for her since I am a righty. I would get fustrated because I couldnt really watch and mirror her since we started on opposite foots and her ball would ride the edge of the left gutter and curve right and mine would just end in the gutter
I got her left handed scissors one time and she hated them. She liked they were "lefty" scissors but they didnt cut a thing.
The one thing I always hated was sitting next to her to eat. I would stick her at the end of a table so I wouldnt bump elbows with her.
2 of my co-workers are lefty and both have the mouse on their right sides. I guess they've adjusted to using a mouse that way.

Re: Left-handed question.
I am a lefty also. I write and eat left but do almost everything else righty. I always get my lefts and rights mixed up. To this day I hate getting ink on my pinky.

My son is left-handed when he writes.
I'm right handed so I'm not up on the left handed world. I know my friend would complain about scissors & write backwards in her notebook so her hand didn't have to go over the metal spine.
Any other things from the left-handed world I should think about?
Zippers, desks in high school, writing w/pencils and certain pens

Re: Left-handed question.
i do almost everything with my left hand! i use the mouse righty and bat righty (but i stink at baseball so it doesn't matter which way i do it!)
your son will adjust to things. they're really just minor annoyances. the only thing that ever really bothered me was not having lefty desks in college. it was impossible to write with those righty desks.

Re: Left-handed question.
DH is lefty and my bro too. Most everything DH does righty in terms of tools, etc. just b/c it's how he learned. He does always sit on the left at a table or at the head so he doesn't bump elbows. He has to have left handed scissors. That's the one lefty tool he uses religiously. He can't cut anything with my scissors. But other things his mom has sent as gifts and he doesn't use them. Silly but we have one ice cream scoop that has one of those release thingies and he won't use that b/c it's distinctly designed for a right handed person. Luckily we have a second one that is just a plain old scoop no fancy releaser thingamigigger so he's fine with that . Priorities, right? You gotta make sure Joseph can eat his ice cream. Oh and MIL always sends DH a lefty desk calendar each christmas. It's of those that you rip off the page each day and it's got 365 days worth of left-handed trivia and the blank space is on the correct side for a lefty to right, since DH says that all the regular calendars leave the writing space on the wrong side. Future gift idea for when Joseph gets older.
