Lent and fridays

Just a office topic here today at work and just curious of what you guys think.

So what do YOU think or believe.

Some people in my office say no meat whatsoever. So say poultry is ok. Others are saying that you are now allowed to have met on Fridays.

I'm Italian Catholic - no meat what so ever on Friday - that includes chicken.

The rule is, no meat. That includes poultry.

Fish is okay.

If one eats chicken then they are not following the correct practice as established by the Catholic Church.

At least that's what they taught me in Catholic school. Granted, I'm no longer a practicing Catholic so we'll probably be having chicken tonightChat Icon

The teaching of the Catholic church is no meat, except for fish.

However, what do I believe? I believe in following that practice-NOT because I think something bad is going to happen to me if I don't, but because I like the symbolism of it + I like the tradition and want to pass it down when I have kids.

Re: Lent and fridays

To be completely honest here, I do agree that meat includes chicken.

However, I just finished a chicken sandwich because I felt that I would rather not let food go to waste that is left over in my fridge than follow the rule of no meat today. I made a decision and am perfectly comfortable with it.

Edited for spelling

No meat for me on Fridays during Lent.

I had tuna for lunch and I'll have grilled cheese for dinner because the wait for pizza is too long lol.

No meat or poultry for us.. except DD. We actually give things up and practice this during lent fully. Have always followed this way since I was a child.
