No meat, including chicken, on Fridays during lent.
Growing up it was no meat on Friday's all year long.
And now the church says what you give up for lent you can have on Sundays.

I don't think that's recent... I believe that's been in place since before Vatican II. But I could be wrong!

t married during Lent and my rehersal dinner was a Friday. All my relatives from Texas and Ireland ordered beef. They said that no meat on Fridays was not a rule that is followed where they live. All were Irish Catholic.
