This year I am not truly giving things up, rather doing better for myself & DH.
No meat on Fridays Save more $$ by not eating out as much on weekends. The $$ will be more important when I'm on maternity leave. Try to be more patient

As an Orthodox Christian I am supposed to give up certain foods(fast), not make love to my DH and go to church every Sunday and few other things I can't think of. I used to fast for 40 days with my family back home , but not since I came to the US when I was 18
is it possible to fast for 40 days? That is will power if so!
the church definition of fasting is one substantial meal and two small meals and no snacking in between - also no meats or sweets.
so it IS possible, I just wouldnt be able to do it LOL

Just a slight correction.... no one "celebrates lent", rather it is observed....
