Level II Monday - questions
I am going for my level II on Monday. They told me to come w/ a full bladder, not to go for an hour before my appt. Does this mean it will be external? All my ultrasounds (9wks, 12wks) have been internal so far. They make me empty my bladder when I get there. This time I am going to a radiology center for the sono, not the specialist I had been. What I should I drink/eat on the way? Does this make the baby more active? Will it be too hard then for them to get measurements & tell us the sex?
Can you tell I am beyond excited to go? Monday is also our one year wedding anniversary. So it is super special.

Re: Level II Monday - questions
mine was external but they also did internal to look at cervical length!
no special instructions about food or drink, baby will probably be moving anyway. They are all over the place at 20 weeks, even if you cant feel it yet

Re: Level II Monday - questions
I had mine yesterday and was external. It was a long appt as they do take measurements of everything and ensure development looks well.
They didn't mention anything about having a full bladder but I sure did b/c I made sure I drank tons of OJ before my appt so baby could be active and we could see sex.
Good luck!!

Re: Level II Monday - questions
My level II is on monday also With my first pregnancy it was only external. I'm assuming it will be the same for this one.
I was thinking of drinking Orange Juice before the sono get the baby moving. We are determined to find out the sex

Re: Level II Monday - questions
How exciting!!
It's external. They do want a full bladder, but then when they were almost done, they made me empty it. I drank a nice big glass of ice cold OJ and was ALL OVER THE PLACE. Which was fun for us to see, but they actually couldn't get all the pics they needed!! I think that's why they made me empty my bladder, but it didn't work and I went back another day.

Re: Level II Monday - questions
I had to have a "full bladder" too. It's supposed to help with the reflections of something like that. the test was close to an hour and was all external. Good luck at your appointment!

Re: Level II Monday - questions
For my level II with DD I drank a glass of OJ before I went. She was dancing around in there. Super cute!
It's external.

Re: Level II Monday - questions
Aww! Happy almost anniversary! What a nice treat!
Funny, because I was told to empty my bladder.
It is an external sono. My peri did an internal sono just to check my cervix, but there is no other reason besides that.
As for food/drink? Some people say juice or sugar.
My child is stubborn and intentionally did not move around much just because that is what she does!

My appointment is on Wednesday, but they never said it was my Level II, I'm just assuming it is! I will drink a big glass of OJ anyway!

Re: Level II Monday - questions
I have always made sure I was well hydrated, since it helps them see everything. I did NOT have to have a full bladder.
Definitely drink orange juice about an hour before your appointment. It makes them super active

Re: Level II Monday - questions
I asked the sono tech about the full bladder thing and she said it made it easier to to measure the cervix when the bladder is full with an external sono.
