Lipa budget.....
Who does the budget? Is it worth it, what are the disadvantages vs advantages? DH thinks we will get screwed over by LIPA??

There is no financial reason to budget. You aren't going to pay less if you budget. You still pay for what you use. They just estimate what you should be paying a month and then after a bunch of months they will bill you for any overage or credit an overpayment.

You don't get screwed, the only advantage is knowing what you owe each month, until late summer when you get slammed for all the A/C use

I prefer it because I like knowing I only owe X amount every month instead of getting slammed in the summer.

At least once per year, be prepared however to have a higher than average bill.
I anticipate this so I don't look at it as LIPA screwing me.
I did question it however when my annual end of cycle bill post-Sandy was like 3x as much as the year before however, and we were out of our home for almost 2 months.
I called though and they came right away and re-read the meter, then adjusted.

I like it too as I like to know my bills every month. My bill just went down but it basically is just equalling out and it REALLY is not going down until January and by then, I will probably get another budget. lol.

i prefer it. i know what my monthly bill is and actually i just got a check for $382 cause they over billed me this year!! AND they just lowered my monthly bill by $40!

Lipa budget.....
I didn't like it; I was always overpaying and therefore always had a credit.... I just felt like they didn't deserve to have my money sitting in their accounts.... I still know what to expect each month because generally we use the same amount of electricity month to month (with the summer of course being higher because of the AC).... it maybe fluctuates $10-$20; give or take.

Lipa budget.....
I prefer to pay what we actually use and not have to worry about getting a surprise bill at some point. It doesn't fluctuate all that much month to month.
