LIRR Ticket Mistake Refund
I used the ticket machine to buy a one way ticket to Penn earlier this week. I also bought 2 family fare tickets. So when I was taking my tickets from the machine, there was one in there for Flatbush or something..I knew it wasn't my ticket so I left it thinking someone forgot it and would come back. Well when I got on the train, I looked at my receipt and realized that *I* paid for that ticket. The person before me must not have finished their transaction and had this ticket in their "cart" and of course since I was in a rush with the kids, I didn't notice. So now what? Is there anyway to get a refund with just the receipt and not the ticket? That sucker was like $23

unfortunately, I doubt it... There's really no way you can prove it.

Re: LIRR Ticket Mistake Refund
I would ask the station attendant. If you can't get a refund, I think they can upgrade to a ticket to Penn to use later.

If I remember correctly, they can't refund it if i t was bought with a credit card, only if it was with cash. However, you can use the ticket- they really only look at zones, it doesn't matter what it says on the ticket.

She didn't take the ticket so she can't use it.
I think you might be out of luck on this one. You don't have the original ticket, so you can't get a return. The receipt doesn't prove whether or not you took and used the ticket, so there is no reason to refund you. Sorry.

Re: LIRR Ticket Mistake Refund
That's what I figured..it's my own fault, and I'm still so annoyed at myself for not thinking to look at the total before I swiped my card.
Thanks

Re: LIRR Ticket Mistake Refund
why not save the ticket for the next time you go to the city? a flatbush ticket is in the same zone as Penn so you should be able to use it for up to three months...

I don't have the ticket. If you read my OP, I left the ticket there because I thought it was someone else's and they would come back to the machine for it.
