Living Rm Update w/ pics & questions
So I got red pillows and window treatments to spice up the otherwise boring couch in my living room. I wanted to cry yesterday b/c I drove all the way to Riverhead for the PB Outlet and came home with nothing!! I ending up finding pillows and drapes elsewhere. Here are before and after pics.
Two questions: 1) Are my drapes too short? I'm not sure if they look "off". DH didn't want them collecting dirt & dust on the wood floors so he put the bar a little higher than I wanted, but when I pull them back, I'm not sure if it looks funny. The next length is a good foot longer, so that may be too long. These are 84 inches.
2) I obviously need an area rug. Would it be overkill to do something with red in it? Not too much, but some neutral with red splashes.
Thanks for your opinions!

Love the sofa love the red accents you could easily do more red in the area rug are you doing anything else with the window? you could add shades or sheers.

Re: Living Rm Update w/ pics & questions
Love the curtains - where are they from? I have a similar color scheme in my LR.
Personally, I think the curtains are too short, but they look fine. I just happen to like them when they graze the floor and even puddle a little bit.
AND....I have been thinking about buying those same pillows!!
Area Rug- I think something tan with red accents would look really nice. I am looking for one too, but I have an upholstered ottoman that is a pattern - tan and red, so I am looking for something with a solid middle and a patterened border....
Looks great!

Re: Living Rm Update w/ pics & questions
Thanks for the input. I like the puddle thing too - I told DH that's "the look" but he's a neat freak and just thinks of dust build up
I actually found these at Linens N Things. I wanted a similar pattern from PB but they were cotton and I wanted something fancier. I randomly checked LNT and found these. I was worried they might look cheapie (b/c they were so much cheaper than other drapes I saw) but I think they do the trick - and for the price, I could change them and not worry about it.
The solid pillows are from LNT and the tapestry print ones are actually from Target!
I guess I could get the longer drapes and have them hemmed if they're too long. The next size up was 96 inches in length.

I never think to go to LNT - I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
The drapes definitely do not look cheap!

Re: Living Rm Update w/ pics & questions
I usually don't like it in there. If anything, I prefer Bed Bath & Beyond. Usually when I go in LNT the stuff is all over the place (out of boxes and disorganized). I only checked it out b/c it was close & after the drive out to PB, I was lazy Those were only $30 per panel!

I agree about the drapes puddling. Very romantic looking. You can also add some sheers for another effect.

Re: Living Rm Update w/ pics & questions
Ok, I went back and got the longer ones - MUCH BETTER. Too bad my camera won't let me take a good pic because of the light coming in from the window. I'll take more pics later when it's darker outside.

LOVE the curtains what about doing a sheer under, to hide the shortness of the other ones

Personally, I would darken the color of the walls. I know that is so annoying, though. A darker beige would blend better with the red, IMO. I do love that couch, though!
