why are you shocked? I never talked about leaving LI - and I dont even care that people are posting beautiful homes in GA or NC - but I dont think its conductive to bash LI houses.
Because anytime someone post a house on LI you find something wrong with it. The house is to small, to expensive,taxes are to high,it needs to much work, its crap, bad area.
um, because that's the truth!  
i was referring to before how i just think its unfair to compare houses on LI VS NC. we all know they are larger and cheaper.
but you said right there don't BASH LI HOUSES.... Don't be a hypocrite

I think that is a little insensitive to post those houses and say they look like converted garages and crack houses. I understand its a point of comparison but you dont know what those houses are like on the inside, nor do you know anything about the people that live in them.
My mother lives in a TINY house that i used to joke around with her that it looked like a double-wide trailer - but you know what - it is NICE inside - really cute. And it is perfect for her. Some people do not need 4000+ square feet to be happy and make a nice home.
Just be careful while you are ripping some of these houses because most of us do live on long island and have friends and family on long island.

i didnt mean to start something by posting those pics. i was intrigued when i saw how much those out of state houses were going for so i ran a search on mls to see what you could get in nassau for the same price. i still live on LI so if i was insulting anyone then i guess i was insulting myself too. i LOVE it when someone posts pics of those new construction homes that are out of state cause me personally, I LOVE TO LOOK AT HOUSES! i'm not whining about housing prices because i'm a realist and i know what it takes to live on LI. i was just showing a side by side price comparison...

I have to agree with this-not just Megan but everyone here seems to want their dream house for $350K-aint gonna happen folks-you may have to sacrifice to buy here-the decision if thats worth it is up to you. My DH and I sacrificed to buy a house over renting 3 yrs ago. Is it in our favorite neighborhood or school district? NO but we don't even have kids. Our ultimate plan(we are TTC now) is to move in about 4-5 yrs when our child needs to start kindergarten

I won't not get a house in charlotte cause the school discrit is really bad.
I live in nc and was told by alot of people not to get a house in Charlotte cause of the schools.

You have FM-relax-I was commenting on the general statements of a lot of the people on here. I do however see you posting -this house is too small, needs too much work, street is too busy along with many other people. Just commenting-it is a public board. No need to get your pants in a bunch

well just an fyi, no where in NC are you going to find schools like you do in NY...Yes, Charlotte schools are bad, hopefully we will be able to put our kids in a charter school when the time comes

house #1-Highland Creek, FANTASTIC school district, power lines running over the community though.
I understand it may seem nutty posting so much about NC on a LI website, but a lot of NY'ers have questions about NC. This site was the #1 information source to help with my move.
Options are good.
