Re: looking back on ur wedding?..

I wouldn't say I *regret* it, I had an absolutely amazing day. But I was pushing for a destination wedding from the get-go, it was more DH who wanted to big party. I loved the way it came out, with the exception of my awful photographer, but I would put up the same fight now as I did then for the small, intimate, destination wedding.

From the beginning DH & I wanted to elope, but our parents freaked out and said they'd pay for the wedding, so we did the whole big wedding thing. I still wish we'd eloped and that our parents had given us the money to put towards school loans or a house.

Wow, almost the same exact scenario for us and I wish the same things. Don't get me wrong, our wedding was wonderful and was such an incredible and happy day, but it would've helped us out SO much financially if we had just skipped it.

Exactly. We had a lot of fun and everyone is still telling us almost 3 years later that it was one of the best weddings they'd ever been to, but I would rather have a new kitchen, another bathroom added to the house, etc.

NO. To have friends and family from all over the world in one place was so special. I would not have changed that. But we did have a very economical wedding. I foudn the best deals and negotiated everything down that I could.

It would be nice to have been able to own a home, but I know we will in a few years, and the wedding memories were just priceless.

Re: looking back on ur wedding?..

I'm not married yet, but as you know I did a lot fo thinking about my wedding, and how big of a day to make it and I seriously considered eloping or a tiny destination wedding, but I really felt like I'd regret it, I'd feel like I missed out on a "real" wedding and sharing the happiness with my family and friends. I think if you really think about it, you can just feel what's right for you.

Ditto. We had the most perfect day and I always smile when I think of it and look at the pictures. It's something I will always have.

And I was the one who wanted to elope to begin with. I'm sooo glad we didn't now.

Re: looking back on ur wedding?..

I wish we had bought our house, then gotten married in it. A backyard bbq. That was the plan, but the church wouldn't let a priest marry us outside of the church building itself.

Re: looking back on ur wedding?..

I wanted a small wedding on a beach. DH wanted something more traditional. I knew how much it meant to him and I am glad we had the wedding we did. We didn't go overboard on certain things to keep the cost down and I can honestly say I loved everything about our wedding. So if we are on a tight budget for another year or two for a house, we'll do it.

Definitely worth it

Ditto. My DH always says that it was the best spent money ever. We saved for a long time but would do it again in a heartbeat.

Re: looking back on ur wedding?..

I loved our wedding....I loved our venue, but I would have looked at other places rather than jumping for the first. That's the only thing I'd change.

No financial regrets, though, no.

yes, if we would have eloped, we wouldve saved money, and still been happy just to be married--- But, IMO, it was made sooo much more special b/c everyone was there to celebrate it with us Chat Icon
