Looking for ideas?
DH & I are both on vacation for a week in September for our anniversary. We usually spend a week out out at the beach house which is VERY relaxing. It is also my IL's When I asked DH if he knew what our plans were for that week his response was maybe another Poconos weekend or New England. When I questioned about NE he said maybe Vermont or Maine.
Anyone have any ideas or even other thoughts?

What do you like to do? How far did you want to go? Fly?
If you are city people - Baltimore is a nice place to go.
If you are museaum people - DC
Outdoors - plenty of nice parks upstate.
Are you foodies? sporty? water sports?

If it were me, I'd suggest to DH that we go out to Vegas. They are having AMAZING deals through October. Seriously, you could stay at one of the TOP hotels for what you'd normally pay at the crappy places.
BUT, I don't know if you'd enjoy that or if you even want to fly somewhere or stay closer. I will say that DH and I don't like to gamble and we still love Vegas - so much to do there!
Other ideas - DC is a great place to visit - I like that suggestion from above.

I have always wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard. Sad since I grew up in MA, lol. It's too far from MD (since I only have weekends), but from NY it would be great.
Especially since you have a full week...

we like to see the sights. I love lighthouses. He loves different baseball stadiums.

I know this doesn't totally fit in with your likes, but what about Canada? You can drive and a week would be enough time to go to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake. You could also do Montreal instead of Niagara Falls.

we just got back from niagara falls and loved. it. you could do the maid in the mist, casinos, look at the falls. you could drive to toronto(90 miles from niagara falls) and tour roger centre. you could see wineries in ontario and in niagara on the lake

How about a cruise to New England and Canada? We are going in the end of Aug on the Carribbean Princess, you might want to check that- the stops are Boston, Bar Harbor, Maine,Newport, RI and Nova Scotia, Canada and another Canada stop. Princess goes and I think Norweign does too. You can see the fall foliage- there is no plane ride, and it is not too expensive.
Sorry I have been MIA, been crazy here- I am a ball of stress .
ETA The crusies go in Septmeber too.

We once did a trip where we went up to Kittery, Maine (outlet shopping), spent the evening in Portmouth, NH (adorable town), drove down to Boston for 2 days (did the tourist stuff, both of our first time in Boston), and then finished up in Newport, RI. It was a great trip, had a wonderful time.
