Looking for opinions regarding Halloween Bday party

My friend always puts up brown craft paper across her garage door for every bday party and lets the kids paint on it as they arrive to keep them busy til everything starts and I was going to steal that idea b/c I love it. However, it's a costume party so as a mom would you not want your child painting in their costume for fear they'd mess it up before Halloween? the party is the 30th.

Also, what is the cheapest place to buy pumpkins for a craft project b/c I have to buy somewhere b/w 12 and 20 of them to decorate Chat Icon . I saw Trader Joes has them for $4 but don't know if Dee's or anywhere else has them cheaper.

I bought about 30 small pumpkins for my son's b-day party. At our local garden store they were $2.19 and at Waldbaum's they were 2 for $4.00.

Personally, I would be cringing about the paint but it wouldn't stop me from bringing my kid. Maybe you could do large crayons or chalk instead?

that's what I was thinking too if it was me and I showed up so maybe we won't do it. I'm not sure the crayons would be as much fun, do you think it's worth it if it's just coloring? I feel like markers would be just as risky in terms of ruining costumes b/c you're not going to want to launder halloween costumes.

If you did decide to do the paint I would get disposable aprons...

My friend did this for her son's bday party...she had the kids paint pumpkins but handed out plastic disposable aprons first. She aid she got like 100 ct for about 20 bucks!
