Low lying placenta causing bleeding with twins?
Hi, I haven't come out yet (hence the fake name), but the night before last I woke up to a ton of red blood, complete with clots and cramping. I thought for sure it was over. I'm currently almost 9 weeks pregnant with twins. I have a history of miscarriage, so we're taking it day by day, but so far this pregnancy is going well. I called my dr and went in and thankfully both babies were there and their little hearts were beating away. I've had bleeding off and on (in small amounts, both red and brown) but the dr was never able to pinpoint where it was coming from. He was able to reassure me that it wasn't anywhere that could harm either one of them and that it was most likely from my uterine lining or my cervix... After a very thorough exam, he determined that baby A has a low lying placenta which is currently right next to my cervix, which he believes is causing the bleeding. I've been put on bed rest and am going back to see him on Wednesday. I guess at this point I'm just looking for reassurance as I'm terrified that I'm going to lose one or both of them.... TIA!!

Yes. I had placenta previa and bled a bit on and off for about a week. I had mostly brown and pink and once was a little red. It corrected by about 12 weeks.

Me too. As the babies grow, the placenta will likely move up.

Re: Low lying placenta causing bleeding with twins?
Thanks! The red/brownish blood is still freaking me out. Seeing the perinatologist tomorrow and my regular dr on wed, so hoping after those appointments to feel a little more confident. My dr said it was too early to label it but further along it would be called placenta previa...
