Lump in breast?
On Friday I was showering and felt something funny, so I called the dr and made an appt for today. I went there totally thinking that it was just me and that she was going to tell me she didn't feel anything and that I was making something of nothing.....well she did feel it and now I have to go for a sono on thursday afternoon. She said not to worry that it feels more cystic or something else I can't remember the other name. But we have to have it checked reguardless. So, I'm not totally freaking out b/c she really seems to think it is nothing, but that small chance that it is something is alittle unsettleling. Anyone else ever have this?? Just curious.

Re: Lump in breast?
I had a scare a while ago but it wasn't a lump. You probably have fibrotic or cystic breasts and that can happen from time to time.
My cousin who went through the same thing gave me some great advice. She said, don't wory until you have something to worry about.
It will probably be nothing but they will probably suggest it come out anyway.
hang in there and take one step at at ime.

Re: Lump in breast?
I would definitely not start worrying until you have the sono and find out exactly what it is. I know it's hard, but it's the best thing cuz it will probably end up being a cyst.

Re: Lump in breast?
I'm not really that worried, I just have it in the back of my head. It kinda felt like I could move it, but that's why I went to the dr b/c I have no idea what I'm supposed to look for normally. After this I guess it's time to start checking every month.

Re: Lump in breast?
I found a small lump (like a small pea) when I was pregnant. I had a breast sonogram and a needle biopsy - which came back A Typical. They told me I could wait, but I was totally panic stricken, so I went right away for a full biopsy. It turned out it was a lactational adenoma - which was benign.
After I had my son I went for a follow up sonogram and they couldn't even find it anymore - and I don't feel anything anymore - so I guess it was just pregnancy related.
I am sure you are fine, but I know it is very unnerving.

I am not certain of your background but mediterranean-descent and african descent women are more likely to develop fibroids or cysts than women of other origins. I am mediterranean & egyptian so I got the double whammy.
Turned out to be a cyst & has actually shrunk.
Good luck at the sono.

Re: Lump in breast?
My mother has very cystic breasts and mine are slightly so. My mom has had to go for biopsys and sonos; they need to be drained (painful) but are cysts.
I hope all is well!!!

I have had one of those, I had a sonogram, a needle biopsy and finally it was removed in a few hours at the hospital. It is scary, but not to worry! They will sort it out as soon as they can!
Good Luck!

Re: Lump in breast?
My mother has gone through this 2,3,4 times. It is so scarey. Basically she was told she has very fibrous/cystic tissue in her breasts and it isn't something she should worry about as long as she does a self-exam to examine any changes and gets her mamogram. Don't know if you are of mamo age - but just keep doing the self-exam after you get this checked out.

Re: Lump in breast?
Back in 2004 I felt a lump and had a sono. It ended up being a fibrodenoma. I had surgery to remove it. It was ambulatory and only left a tiny scar which you almost can't see anymore. I think I am prone to them and might even have another one right now.....it isn't dangerous, but I still wanted it removed.
it sounds similar to what you may have. Good luck with your sono. I am sure everything will turn out ok

I'm not mamo age, I'm only 27! So I really am going to need to start doing exam regularly.

Re: Lump in breast?
It's to hard to wait to see what the doctors say before worrying...I completely understand so lots of for you! The good thing is that you are soooo good about checking and found this. I am hoping that it's nothing to be alarmed by and that everything is okay.

Re: Lump in breast?
This same exact thing happened to me last month and I was FREAKING out for the two weeks between the OBGYN and the ultrasound....the ultrasound came back fine all they said is that because my breast has so many transient lumps and bumps that I need to be extra vigilant about getting regular exams

Re: Lump in breast?
I have very cystic breasts since I was a teenager and I routinely do SBE to keep my self aware of what is normal and not normal! Most lumps are nothing to worry about. Be proactive! Anything you feel that is not usual, go see your doctor!
