Re: LUPUS
I don't have it, but i did have a lupus scare recently. Thank God everything turned out fine. Through all my research, I found that no two cases of lupus are alike and the symptoms really vary. Some people can live completely normal lives with little to no impact on their work and funtioning, while others can really suffer with debilitating symptoms that make it difficult to work. So, unfortunately, there's no simple answer to your question.

Re: LUPUS
I agree that from what I've heard, the symptoms are different for everyone.
My MIL has Lupus. It affects her mainly in her skin and her joints. She needed both knees replaced by the time she was 50 years old. And she gets terrible rashes and blisters and can't have 1mm of skin exposed to the sun without SPF50 or some pretty bad stuff happens. Plus, she bruises really easily, which is painful. All of this makes her very uncomfortable and it's hard for her to stand for long periods of time. Some psychological stuff also happened to her, that I don't feel it's right to get into. But that more than anything affected her ability to work. She held her job for about 10 or 15 years after being diagnosed. Now, it's too hard for her to be on her feet and that, plus the psych stuff, led her to stay at home.
I'm sorry someone you know is going through this. Lupus affects everyone differently, and for some people it hardly ever impacts their daily lives. I hope this is the case for you.
