I love the way everyone just ignores the fact that the shot does NOT prevent transmission and therefore does NOT protect others and in fact may be more dangerous since you are transmitting it without knowing since your symptoms are muted.
In the past 2 days alone I have been told that 4 different people I personally know have covid - all vaccinated - and no they are not hospitalized. However I know plenty of unvaccinated people too and none of them have covid. Anecdotal? Yes.
But it would appear that the only benefit to this shot now is that maybe you won't die - which is obviously amazing and worth it. But there is no longer any reason to force it on others.
THANK.YOU

I’m not interested in debate but I have to point out how everyone also seems to avoid another fact, perhaps the most important benefit to the vaccine: Our hospitals are not currently inundated. Sure you can get vaccinated and spread Covid all you want, but your asses won’t be in the hospital. Our hospitals here in NY are thankfully not near capacity at this time because those spreading Covid amongst each other are vaccinated and don’t need hospitalization(and do not die if that means anything to you).
You can get your heart bypass surgery, visit your family members dying in the hospital(of other things), get your Pap smears and regular health screening on time, get a CT scan or biopsy to detect an early cancer, and get that appendectomy you need. Look at Florida’s hospitals right now, they are in NYC March 2020 mode(except for having PPE now….). I totally get and am thankful that the concept of “hospital at capacity” is just a concept, not something most have personal experience with and know what that REALLY means(which I won’t even share here..) Get your vaccine, don’t get it, whatever you want. Please don’t forget about the healthcare workers scared AF for the upcoming season now mobilizing for the worst. We all all first in line for the booster.
I had Covid, was fortunate that I didn’t have to go to the hospital even with my pre-existing condition. So my ass won’t be in the hospital.
You are actually the majority. The MAJORITY of people with Covid don't end up in the hospital.

Or they’d say...”yeah we already knew that”. Like it happened with the booster, and like it happened with the natural immunity being better protection against delta than 2 doses of the covid vaccine.
Well where is this natural immunity that so many have talked about last year? It seems people are getting it twice, vaccine isn't really doing what we were told from the beginning it was supposed to do and you are hearing more and more stories of people getting bad side effects. I thought by this point we should have had herd immunity no?
We should. And we should have a vaccine that works. Yet, here we are. Maybe this will just never go away.

It won't ever go away as it is a virus. We have to live with it just like every other virus. We did it before, we can do it again.
Still amazed by the numbers they try and throw at us everyday (later and later too) but it looks like most people are living their best life out there.

Not trying to convince you at all to get it but I do think it’s a false sense of security to think cause you didn’t end up in the hospital the first time if you did get covid again you wouldn’t end up in it the a second time. Plenty of people who get covid the first time get it worse the second time around. Hopefully though your natural immunity will protect you from it and you don’t get again. They are reporting natural immunity may just be as good as the shot anyway.

If I had got Covid in 2020 then yes I wouldn’t be banking on immunity but the percentage of getting Covid a second within several months is lower than a vaccinated person (who’s never had Covid) getting Covid.
My point is that just because someone isn’t vaccinated doesn’t mean they are going to overwhelm the hospitals and end up there. That is the automatic response, there are more than two categories. It isn’t just vaccinated vs. unvaccinated. We need to look at all the data and stop making assumption on half the data and half truths.
I think hospitals will not be like 2020 because for the most part the vaccine is doing it’s job for those who never had Covid.

My mother had a cancerous polyp removed from her colon and had to wait months and months for a follow up colonoscopy to see if all was ok because the hospital was so inundated with Covid patients. She was an absolute nervous wreck. (She is fine now btw).
And my BIL couldn’t see his own father who ultimately died in the hospital – not Covid related. They couldn't have a wake for weeks because the funeral parlors were so backed up.
Just for that - the vaccine is worth it to me.

Some companies levy additional insurance premiums for overweight and obese employees.
Yes: Your BMI could affect how much you pay for your health insurance premium.
Here's why: Under the Affordable Care Act, group health plans can adopt wellness program that base people's premiums on their health status. The law says these so-called "health-contingent wellness programs" can give people discounts on their premiums – or charge them more – depending on whether they meet certain health goals, like normal weight or blood pressure, according to a recent report from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Bottom line is that it is total BS. It is another way to force people to get a shot that every day is shown to be less safe and less effective. Employers have zero reason to mandate it since it does not protect against transmission.
I am old enough to remember a time when an employer forcing something inside an employee’s body as a condition of employment was frowned upon.
Employers certainly risk losing good employees who don’t want to get the vaccine, but there are business reasons to mandate it. If they follow the CDC guidance, vaccinated individuals don’t have to quarantine if they’re asymptomatic. Unvaccinated employees who can’t work remotely due to the type of jobs they have are out of work for 7-10 days. For a large company, that unproductive time can really add up especially if people have multiple exposures over time. If vaccinated individuals are more likely to have a mild case, there is a greater chance for employees who are able to work remotely to continue being productive while quarantined. If their jobs cannot be done remotely, having a greater likelihood of a milder case will allow those employees to return to work faster.
From an insurance perspective, any serious illness that requires a lot of medical intervention can impact future insurance rates. If the vaccine lowers the risk of hospitalization, which could be tremendously costly depending on how many people are hospitalized and for how long, this may in turn contain rising insurance premiums.
I’m not saying I necessarily agree with private companies mandating the vaccine, but from a financial and productivity perspective, I can see why companies will go that route.
