Manicures
Is it safe to get a mani/pedi during pregnancy? I've seen pg women in my nail salon before. Also, I have silk wraps on my nails. Should I have them taken off? I really don't want to. And would soaking them off in those chemicals be bad?

Re: Manicures
it's more the fumes that might make you ill.....I just got a pedi and it was great. Ask your dr for their opinion since all doctors are different.

Re: Manicures
I recently got a pedi, too.
I know my friend took her acrylic off when she got pg. I think it is inhaling the chemicals that is bad.

Re: Manicures
I never stopped getting manicures or pedicures. Just make sure the salon you go to is well ventilated and sanitzes everything. I chose to buy all my own tools and just bring them with me each time but that's just my general preference pregnant or not.

Re: Manicures
I believe it's safe. The only thing I tell my clients is when you're getting a pedicure, do not let someone who is not a licensed Reflexologist perform "reflexology" on you. There are certain points on the feet (particularly the ankle area) that should be avoided- at least the nail tech. shouldn't perform deep, intense, massage on that area during pregnancy.

I was told it was ok. I kept getting mine done during my entire pregnancy w/ Patrick.

I've gotten them and so far haven't read or been told that they are a no-no.

Re: Manicures
I had my wraps off before I got PG. The Prenatals really helped my nails. I get Pedicures all the time. My sister had her wraps on through out the whole Pregnancy. The only thing I would do is make sure they don't use the blade or even bring your own utensils so you can prevent infection.
