Marathon v. Roundabout? Britax Mommies come on in please

Ok, so I'll admit it when I was pregnant with DS a britax seemed sooooooo expensive and we were alot tighter then we are now (ok, well we are tight but the fact that its a carseat and I realize how much time my children are in the car price doesn't matter I can now see that)
DS has a Triumph and an Eddie Bauer 3 in 1.
But for DD I want to get a Britax (I should have a bigger car by time she needs the carseat so that helps as well)

I'm torn on the Roundabout or the Marathon? Any pro's or con's especially from girl mom's....

I have 2 girls and I have 2 Marathons and I love them both so much!
I have no negatives with this seat at all. It fit forward facing and rear facing in my car, DD's are super comfy rear and forward facing, the straps NEVER tangle and its so easy to install.

Plus, the seat covers for girls are SOOOOoo adorable!!

IMO, go with the marathon, it holds the baby up to higher weight and height than the roundabout.
The weight is 65lbs and 49inches for the marathon.

We have Marathons. I got it b/c it holds bigger kids than the Roundabout.

ETA: Not sure what car you have but I have both in the back of my Camry and a skinny person can squeeze between them. My mom is a size 6 and sometimes sits there rather than take a 2nd car.

We also have the Marathon and we love it.

We went with that cause the Roundabout I think only goes up to 45lbs

I am a boy mommy and have NOT used my Roundabout yet because DS is still in infant seat, but I got the Roundabout because it was rated better than Marathon by Consumer Reports and Baby Bargains.

same here. Another reason for me was that we travel by plane alot and I thought it would be easier traveling with a smaller seat. We have made 3 plane trips now with the roundabout(times that by 2 for roundtrip) and I can't imagine lugging an even bigger seat on the plane & through the airport.

Bought the Roundabout for the same reasons and love it. By the time she is 45 pds I would hope she would be in a booster anyhow.

I got the Roundabout from babies r us in the pink. We choose it b/c it got the highest rating in consumer reports over the Marathon. Its more $$ than the marathon too but well worth it
We LOVE the ROUNDABOUT and so does DD. HTH

Re: Marathon v. Roundabout? Britax Mommies come on in please

Another Marathon fan here. I have 2 of them, one has been in use since 2003 with 2 kids and zero complaints. Even the covers have held up beautifully despite the many washings. I doubt my DS #1 would have fit in the Roundabout till he was 4 which is basically when we switched him to a booster and now DS #2 uses it. He was over 40 lbs by then and way past the height limit. Most times I hear people getting the Roundabout bc of car size more than anything but if you will have a larger vehicle by the time you use it, go fr the Marathon. Wait for a Buy Buy Baby coupon (10% off) or search some on line sites before purchasing. Most offer free shipping.

ETA: I love their covers too. The designs are so nice.

I got the Roundabout for DD. 1)my car is on the smaller side, 2)DD is on the smaller side as well and I know she'll be old enough to go in a booster seat long before she outgrows the roundabout so there was no need to get an even larger car seat.

I got the roundabout for Ella. She's light for her age, and I figured even if she outgrew it, she'd have siblings behind her to use it.

At the rate she's going (20lbs @18 months), she's not going to be 45lbs for a long time.

Re: Marathon v. Roundabout? Britax Mommies come on in please

DS is on the bigger side so the roundabout would have been outgrown too fast. I got the Decathlon (same size as Marathon) but with the crotch adjustment.
