Mardi Gras mayhem - 6 (including a BABY) shot at parade
God this is so awful:
NEW ORLEANS -- Six people were shot along the Mardi Gras parade route in uptown New Orleans on Tuesday, and police arrested two suspects, according to police and emergency officials.

It happened at St. Charles Avenue and 2nd Street just before 2 p.m., while truck parades continued to roll in the area.
New Orleans EMS spokesman Jeb Tate said six people were taken to the hospital. They include: a 20-year-old man shot in the abdomen, an approximately 20-year-old man shot in the abdomen, a 1-year-old boy grazed in the back, a 17-year-old girl shot in the thigh, a 50-year-old woman shot in the elbow and a 30-year-old man grazed in the thigh.
New Orleans police spokesman Bob Young said at least some of the victims appeared to be innocent bystanders. He said one of the victims was a woman watching the parades from atop a ladder.
Their injuries are not life-threatening; the two men shot in the abdomen are in guarded condition and everyone else is stable, Tate said.
The shootings happened along a busy stretch of the parade route uptown, while truck parades rolled following Rex -- the city's signature Mardi Gras parade -- on Tuesday afternoon.
Young said several New Orleans police officers were nearby when the shootings happened, so officers were able to quickly catch the suspects. Officers also recovered three guns at the scene, Young said.
A WDSU crew on the scene reported that the crime scene was on the opposite side of St. Charles Avenue where the parades were rolling.

Well, Mardi Gras or not --it is the crime capital of USA... Pretty scary stuff though-and mid date at the parade....
