How many people can play at one time? Do I need 1 steering wheel or 2?

4 people play at a time. You don't "need" a steering wheel, but the handling is easier with it. I would get at least 2.
ETA: You can also go online anf play.

up to 4 people can play at a time. you don't need steering wheels for everyone, but you need some kind of controller (nunchuk etc) for each person
