Maternity Leave at your job
what's the policy where you work?
I think mine is relatively lame! We get 6 weeks paid at 80% (i believe) for a vaginal birth, 8 weeks for c-section. Cheap!

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
90 days of disability with full pay, which is what I am on right now for the past month. My mat leave starts on the day of the birth of the baby, I'll have 16 weeks with full pay.

I can take 7 months off and choose to use accrued time if I wish. They do not pay me for any of it. I work for the state.

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
I get 90% of my pay for 6 weeks, and a further 9 months pay at a stauatory amount (about $180 a week) and than a further 3 months unpaid. My company is than legally required to hold my job or a comperable job for me to return to.
One good reason to live in Europe.

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
I get 6 weeks paid at 60%. Concurrently, I take FMLA which will get me 12 weeks off from work (unpaid)
It bites, but I'm happy to have a job these days.

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
6 wks vaginal, 8 wks c section. No pay just NYS disability which is a joke.
ETA: I work for a small company so I don't get the 12wk FMLA. It really sucks.

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
I get 8-10 weeks w/ full pay depending on a vag or C section. I can take up to 6 months total (the remainder unpaid, UNLESS I have a medical reason for 'medical leave')

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
2 weeks prior to birth, 6 weeks after - out of those 8 weeks, 4 are paid at 100%, 4 at 80%
then I get an additional 4 weeks from my company paid at 100%

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
I've been on ML since 12/15. We don't get paid anything either. I used my vacation and PTO days which amounted to about 4 weeks total pay.
I am entitled to 6 wks disability but haven't seen any of those checks yet. We also have FMLA.
I have decided to go back the week of 2/15 officially because it makes sense financially to do so because I can do a lot of my work from home when I am not seeing clients. I also am very fortunate that my inlaws who live nearby can watch him whenever I need them (parents also agreed to come down and stay if inlaws need to go away for a few days).
On a positive, as of last week, my job did however agree to pay me and keep my health insurance in place until I go back to work because I am doing some work for them from home they have no one else to do right now.
I don't think it's going to be my regular paycheck, but it's something!!!
The 16th will be here before I know it anyways........

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
That's pretty good actually!
We get nothing... just up to 12 weeks FMLA which isn't paid. I can use all of my sick/vacation time that I have saved up though so I plan to do that since we accrue a ton of time here (I work for a college).

Me too! I am using accrued time to maintain my health insurance (if you take unpaid time, you go on COBRA and have to pay the high premiums). The State has great sick/vaca benefits though--I have over 100 days banked.

same here.... you don't have to use your sick days though if you don't want to... you're just back that much quicker and with no pay. If you carry the disability insurance, you get 60% of your salary for 6-8 weeks.

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
thats really good... we dont get anything...
nys disability- and paying for aflac covg- but thats only 6 or 8 weeks... then i'll be using up my 1 week sick and 2 weeks vacation.. so if i have a natural birth then im still 3 weeks short

Re: Maternity Leave at your job
nada! i get 8 weeks unpaid so im saving my sick and vacation time to use which adds up to 3 weeks. after that i'll be relying on disability which is peanuts!
