Maybe a stupid question about packing for the hospital
I'm not sure if I need to bring my own towel and hair dryer. I know it's not a hotel which is why I assume the hospital wouldn't provide these things but I just wanted to make sure before I pack them. Giving birth at st. Charles btw in case anyone has delivered there and knows the answer. Thanks!

Re: Maybe a stupid question about packing for the hospital
Honestly, I'd skip the hair dryer, they have the small ones in the room if you want to do a quick dry and BRING TOWELS. The towels and Winthrop totally sucked and I wish I had a decent towel from home. I had to swipe three towels from the cart outside just to get dry and they were so rough.

Bring a large towel!!! The ones they give you are the size of a dish towel!

Maybe a stupid question about packing for the hospital
I didn't deliver at St Charles, but I did deliver at Winthrop( and work there) and NSUH and I always brought a towel since the towels at the hospitals are like hand towels and they are rough. I would bring a hair dryer too just in case.

I know many hospitals won't let you use your own hair dryer in the hospital. Check with the L&D dept b/c many actually supply you with a packing list/guidelines.

Re: Maybe a stupid question about packing for the hospital
I only took one shower while at the hospital. I did not have a hair dryer, but I just put it up in a bun. As for the towels, they gave me 2 but they were so small and not comfy feeling at all. I would bring one from home.

Maybe a stupid question about packing for the hospital
I used their towels at the hospital even though they were tiny and sucky because I didn't want to bleed all over mine. Sorry if that's TMI. I don't know what the TMI line is these days... I feel like nothing is TMI when you're pregnant or have a toddler.
I blew out my hair while in labor so I didn't wash it at the hospital. That's up to you and if you're ok with not blowing your hair out while there. I was too exhausted to do it anyway there.

Not TMI at all! Actually that's helpful to know and I hadn't even thought of that, so if anything I will bring an old towel that I don't care about ruining.
As for the hair dryer, I don't plan to fully blow out my hair to straighten it or anything. I just know myself and that I get cold if my hair is wet for too long, so I just want anything that will dry it at least a little. The cheap hairdryers like what you find in hotels are fine with me, I just don't know if the hospital has those.

Not TMI at all! It was actually my first thought!!
I can't remember what the towels were like at Huntington Hospital. But I did bring my own hair dryer. I just didn't have the energy to stand there and give myself a full blow-out right after delivering though.
