Middle Class Star Rebate Program
A co-worker received an email stating she was getting the rebate check and it would arrive around 10/8/08.
I received a postcard from the Town last week but by accident, I threw it out!! I want to find out if we are getting this check but can't find the number to call for Star program inquiries. The website doesn't help... Anyone have their number?

We did not get a check last year (we moved in 2/07). But our STAR kicked in this year.
I just want to call them and double check to see if we are getting a check or not. Of course there is no number on the website to contact the Star Dept...

Yep! We are waiting for our application as well so that we can get a check. Applications should arrive sometime the week of October 6 I believe.

So they are sending out another rebate check this year just like last?
I got a check last year and I just checked and it says week of Oct 6th for me too.
This means i'll have a check later that week?

I rather call to double check because my friend's email from the State says you will automatically get the check with no applications to fill out. Then the website says you have to fill out an application but yet checks are going out the 2nd week in October? Now if only I could get a phone number... Would it be the Town?

We didn't get one last year either! And we have lived here since 2004 and always had STAR. I didn't find out about it until this year and haven't gotten any kind of notification. It says to check back in November if you don't receive anything.

Yes, we did. We actually filled out the application at our closing, because the previous homeowner didn't have STAR. We get the rebate on our tax bill. We just never got this check.

So yo get this you have to have lived in the house a year? or at least long enough to get a school tax bill? We close at the end of this month... is it too late for us? The web site didn't help w/that answer.... but thank you for the link, I understand it better now

you won't get a check. next year you should assumeing you file for star with your town. the deadline is typically march. once you file, you tax bill should reflect that in 2010 in your name.
star may be carried over to you now from the previous homeowner so you may see the savings now...
