Milk (or food) allergy question...
so I think I spoke too soon when I posted earlier about her outgrowing her milk allergy, but I don't really know.
DD has had a mild milk allergy since birth. Her last RAST test was at 10 months old (she's almost 21 months now.)
One day last week I gave her a few pieces of mac and cheese - no reaction. Saturday I gave her a piece of Italian bread, no reaction. Sunday she had a few sips of milk with lunch and a few pieces of penne with a red cream sauce with dinner, no reaction. Yesterday with dinner she had a piece of american cheese and woke up today with a small rash spot next to her vagina. Today with lunch she had another piece of cheese and had some loose stools - 3 times in the afternoon (but not really diarrhea.)
She was somewhat cranky tonight with a clear runny nose. Do you think she could still be "less" mildy allergic???? She also had her fingers in her mouth all day - so maybe molars?? She has all her other teeth.
I guess my question is - how long would a reaction take? and does it matter how much she eats? Could she get a reaction since she had some "build up" of milk in her system over the last few days?
She USED to get a bad rash on her face and vagina within an hour, so I'm confused.
Thanks and sorry so long...

Re: Milk (or food) allergy question...
I would guess it's still the allergy. Not sure how long it would take a reaction to show up in a kid who is getting milk re-introduced after this long. I'd bring her to the allergist for new tests.
In our case, Andy's been off milk for about 16 months. We did a 1 year follow up skin test at the allergist earlier this summer and he reacted before she even left the room, the welt was insanely huge 10 minutes later. But he's severely allergic, even without being exposed to milk at all in all this time it got worse.

Re: Milk (or food) allergy question...
It also sounds to me like it is still allergy related. It could be that she is on her way to outgrowing it though. Maybe just try giving it to her cooked in foods. The obvious dairy might still be to much for her. I also notice with DD depending how much dairy she gets will depend how much she vomits or at all. If she eats more than a little then it more than once.

It seems like her allergy is definitely less severe I would say that's a lot of dairy in a short period for her given the fact that she had an allergy. I would build up slowly. Dairy only once a week then increase to twice and see how she does.
