Re: Miss Italia 2006 weighs 155 pounds at 5'9"
I actually would think 155 would be good for someone who is 5'9. I am 5'2 and thats 7 inches taller then me. I would think 120 is good for 5'2 so 155 is what would be appropriate for 5'9...JMO

maybe if there was less critiquing...there would be less neurosis
I think sometimes our neurosis is what compels us to critique.

but the neuroses have to come from somewhere...
ANYWAY, we're getting off the subject.....
Miss Italia looks awesome, thin, the image most of us would envy, although it's the proper weight for her height, she is not what all of our warped minds would envision a person who weights 155 lbs to look like......DONE, SAID, OVER!

she looks thinner than 155 in that photo. I would guess her to be @ 125-130.
I COMPLETELY agree. I'm 5'9" and have been 155 lbs. and I didn't look anywhere near as thin as she does and I have a narrow bone structure - people usually think I'm smaller than I really am.

Re: Miss Italia 2006 weighs 155 pounds at 5'9"
I understand what your original post was about, but I believe the "stats" on Miss Italia are incorrect (whether it's by accident or done purposely.) Or she normally weighs 155lbs, but dieted for the pageant and as a result, is much thinner in the photo.
Now, if you had posted a "realistic" looking woman at 155lbs and stated she was STUNNING, then I wouldn't question your post or the model's stats.
(I'm 6'1" and weighed 155lbs pre-pregnancy and I didn't look as thin as the woman in the photo...plus 10+lbs of my 155 was is in my boobs!)

it is certainly a big factor..

Muscle weighs a lot more than fat. I believe the 155. She looks pretty muscular, in addition to having a tiny bit of meat on her..

no, this is my other point. in other countries, they don't care about numbers as much as weight. I watched the pageant (all 4 days of it!) she has a bigger frame, and is very toned. at her height and frame, she could easily and healthy weight that much and still look that good.
it wasn't a "stats" thing...they ASKED her point blank "how much do you weigh" and she answered it.
I agree with what the Lorax said and I did not post this thread to continue the bashing...not at all. I just wanted to show, that if you are healthy and active, the scale shouldn't matter. this girl could care less how much she weighs, b/c she looks DAMN good.

That's the point the OP is trying to make, I assume. The fact that she weighs 155, which is normally a taboo and according to today's ridiculous standards, too heavy, and can win such a huge pageant.....and look sooooo smokin'!!!!!!
Thats exactly what she meant...but people have to jump in and start questioning everything...

I don't know what bashing you're referring to b/c my posts weren't intended to bash anyone. (Just b/c I believe Miss Italia weighs less than 155 doesn't mean I think she looks bad.) And if it's in reference to other "weight" posts...I apologize, I haven't read them, so I'm in the dark.
But can you honestly tell me that you think Claudia Andreatti "could care less" about her weight when she competes in pageants?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think your initial post only reinforces society's view on woman & weight.

that's why I referred to a post that the Lorax made, b/c she was having a discussion that led to someone commenting about bashing...I don't want to get eggs scrambled here.
my point is, they care about looking GOOD, not what the scale SAYS. she said her weight without batting an eye..without shame.
my OP had no commentary in it at all, so I am not sure how it could reinforce anything. it has a lovely woman in it...I said her weight and waited for the responses and the disbelief. it can be interpreted in any way one wishes to interpret it. but an interpretation should not be construed as my intention.

i agree with the first part but not that last
I think the very point of being in a pagent IMPLIES one cares about how ones looks
you can't say how she feels by looking at a pic
and i know you are not looking to continue the bashing...
but IMO it kinda is a bash...a critique if you will
and i say this because of the other threads that were posted about THINNESS yesterday

I did not say she doesn't care about what she looks like, but how much she WEIGHS.. big difference.
I understand where your comments are coming from...I actually enjoy your perspective even if I don't always agree with it. You THINK...which is a good thing.
and I did watch the pageant, so I have a better sense than most on here about what she looks like etc.

she didn't say that she didn't care how she LOOKS, she said she didn't care what she WEIGHS. And I do have to agree that in Italy, they are more carefree about their weight....

There are numerous photos of her at wireimage.com.
I know it wasn't your intention, but the photo you posted is a bit deceiving b/c of the ribbon (it hides her curves). There are more photos of her where she appears more "curvy". (I use the term "curvy" loosely b/c by mosts standards...she's still thin, no matter what her # on the scale reads.)

I got that photo off the official website. I'd happily edit my OP with more photos of her. I didn't think of that, so thank you.
