the china theory is good but I wonder if they found out about it now how did they not before? another words how could it go on for so long before finding out china uses lead paint?

we split them up at 15 month check up and did fine only thing is the doctors charged a co payment for each shot which i thought was wrong. so it cost $60 in copayments for the one shot split up.
If you go at different times, then it's a different copay.

China as a whole doesn't use lead paint. The manufacturers that want to cheapen up costs use it and those manuf. happen to be for the most part in China. There are allowable levels of lead allowed in paint, vinyl etc. Many toys that are made in China haven't been recalled because their levels of lead are at the US Standard.

My DD is only 4mths. However, I would just rather be safe than sorry. JMO So when the time comes, I plan to divide the shot.
There is no evidence that splitting or delaying the shot is safer.

Re: MMR vaccine questions for BTDT mommies
I am a school nurse and having a problem getting students to get the immunizations that is required by NYS because of this reason. We got off the phone with NYS yesturday and the CDC does not believe autism is linked to the MMR. They also stated that they are going to stop making them seperate. It will only be the MMR and that its.Parents will no longer have a chose. I can image peds are stocking up now because of this issue . When this will happen I don not know.
My dd got her MMR on schedule and did fine. She got it with her varicella which she had a reaction to.

Re: MMR vaccine questions for BTDT mommies
The whole vaccine hysteria is out of control. I think it's interesting that mercury was stopped being used in 1999 but the number of children being diagnosed with Autism and other developmental delays is increasing (and I don't buy the defense that we are more "aware" these days hence the increase in diagnosis). If vaccines were the cause, the numbers would've declined after the halt of thimersol being put into the routine vaccines.

Yes I agree out of control not to mention dangerous. With all these parents delaying or choosing not to vaccinate at all we're becoming very vulnerable to reintroducing diseases that have been almost non-existent in this country for years. Frankly I'm not putting DD at risk due to this hysteria. I've been following her ped's schedule and will continue to do so. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you!
I'm sorry, I know everyone worries and has their concerns but the whole vaccine thing has become completely out of control!!
You are completely right...the data seems to point to mercury not being the cause whatsoever...
I don't think doctors across the country would be pushing vaccines at the times they do if they honestly believed there were a link!!
I give Johnny his shots when they are supposed to be given...I don't believe in not vaccinating and don't think it's worth it to wait..

My reasoning is not so much Autism. I think way too many vaccines are given. Esp for diseases that are not even around anymore. And esp in young children.

The reason why many of them aren't around anymore is BECAUSE of the vaccines, though. It is important to keep that in mind. Polio killed and crippled so many people, and while it is gone in the US it exists in other countries!! If we didn't vaccinate for it, and people traveled, it would be back in the US for sure. And that is something we don't want...

Once you stop immunizing, the diseases WILL come back. These diseases still occur in many foreign countries and some even here. Measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough and tetanus are all still very prevelant in this country.

Don't get me wrong, I will have him vaccinated. Just not when they tell me to. There are also way too many children with cancer now and the thought always crosses my mind that some of these vaccines contribute to this.

The vaccines given now were the vaccines given when we were children, with the exception of Varicella which is given later in childhood and Hepatitis. So I don't think vaccines have anything to do with cancer.
Genetics and environmental factors are major contributors IMO.

Re: MMR vaccine questions for BTDT mommies
i agree with you 5ofClubs, that the amount of vaccinations/schedule given to children today is a lot (and i also think a majority of them are necessary to prevent an outbreak). All the peds i interviewed prior to DS, said that every year there are new ones that they decide to incorporate and that our children get a lot more then what we were even given 20-30 years ago. I heard they are now making the Heb A vaccination mandatory for children (dont know if its true or not). i also feel that there little bodies are so fragile and tiny and i dont want to overload my DS with 4-5 vaccinations at a time. And while i am vaccinating my son (he gets 2 shots every month-thats how my dr.'s office does it, but if he didn't i would have asked for it), its on MY schedule not the doctors. I work with autistic children and families and have read many articles about the link b/t mercury and autism and while there are many that state that its not correlated, i have met MANY parents of autistic children through the years who believe otherwise. These are their beliefs and feelings and no amount of "research" is going to change that. Also, while the vaccinations are technically thermisol free, there are many that still contain small amounts of mercury. I forgot where to find it (prob the CDC page) but i remember someone posting about it a while ago.

Here it is Thimerosal Content in Some US Licensed Vaccines
One of the reasons I like DD's ped is because he only believes in giving 2 vaccines at a time. I agree with you that loading them up with 4-5vaccines at a time is just a bit much for a small child.

Re: MMR vaccine questions for BTDT mommies
DD is two and still hasn't had it. I'll give it to her when it comes time for her to start preschool which is one more year. I will probably not separate them at that point but I still haven't decided for sure. For me I'm still not comfortable giving it at 2.

dawnie I noticed you said on a different post you use CPEC pediatrics and they split the shots. I am thinking about changing over to them to get my son the seperate shots. Can you please tell me about the practice and what you like about them? THanks

MMR does NOT contain Mercury nor did it ever. The Mercury that was in other shots came from Thimerosol that was used as a preservative, but it's no longer used. The supposed connection with MMR and Autism has nothing to do with mercury.
not getting into debate but i am very confused by this. could you send me the links to the research you have? i was always under the impression that the debate about MMR was about the use of thimerisol (mercury derivitive) in the vaccine. i have never heard about the live virus connection. thanks a bunch!

I agree, why do you think that these diseases are not around anymore?....you need to understand that it is due to people being vaccinated
