Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
For me it was the pushing. After I got the epidural I didn't really feel the contractions as much (I still felt pressure) but by the time I had to push, I was feeling everything again. I pushed for one hour. As horrible as the pain was I completely forgot about it the minute i looked at my son.

Not being able to eat! Seriously for me, I had back labor - not one contraction, so for me, that was the worst.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to have an epidural because I dilated too quickly. The contractions were unbelievable. I only had back labor though. Once I started pushing I didn’t really feel the contractions. Also pushing the head out. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling. It burned so bad.
But I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
To me, the worst part was pushing and then she didn't even come out that way! I wound up with a c-section...if I only knew that 2.5 hrs earlier!!

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
HOnestly, there was nothing horrible about my labor. I thought it was a wonderful experience and very empowering too! (and no, I am not a hippy or anything)
I got epidural after I got to 3.5 cm and everything went very smoothly from then on. They most unpleasant part was the pushing, of course, but honestly, it was totally bearable, especially with epidural.
Just make sure not to get it too early, you gotta be at least 3cm dilated. Getting epi too early can slow down labor and cause all kind of unpleasantness...

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
I ended up having a c-section but before they did it I would say that the contractions and getting the epidural were the worst part. The needle hurt and they had to do it more than once cuz they weren't getting it in right. Then I still felt the pain of the contractions.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
I went naturally this time. The last half hour before you push is the worst. Pushing feels good because it relieves the pressure.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
I think the later contractions were the worst for me. I held off on getting the epidural because the contractions weren't so bad but then the contractions got so intense that even with the epidural I was crying at one point and I have a high threshold for pain. I had to get my epidural refilled 3 times. Pushing wasn't so bad but it was definitely tiring. All in all, I think the worst for me was actually post-pregnancy/recovery. Labor paled in comparison.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
To me, the worst part was going through 8 hours of pain to end up with a c-section RIGHT AFTER I get the epidural.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
I labored at home with my daughter and took no meds, no epidural. I would have to say that none of it was THAT bad...but, the most difficult part was definitely transition and late stage labor when the contractions are one on top of the other and you barely get a chance to catch your breath.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
For me it was the waiting. My water broke at home. I never went into labor on my own.... I wound up being induced, and just waiting for something to happen was the worst.
- the not knowing is the scariest part. You'll do great - just like everyone else.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
The contractions pre-epidural were pretty wicked but honestly the worst part for me was getting up the first time after I had DD. I had an episiotomy but ontop of that I tore really bad. They topped off my epidural after I had her to stitch me up which completely numbed me so I didn't realize the pain until a few hours later when the pain meds wore off. Not to frighten anyone but it felt like someone tore my legs off and then put them back on

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
I never got to the pushing part.Waiting for the epi was pretty bad, but I had a very bad reaction to it so I would have to say the epi was the worst part of it all.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
For me it was having to get a c-section. I was fine up until that point. I was so scared once they told me I needed one.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
Honestly for me it was all bearable except for the transition period (going from 7-10cm) but it went fast and I went drug free so if you have an epidural you won't even notice that I would think. The pushing was actually a relief after that. I actually loved labor and giving birth. It was hard but it was the birth I wanted and wouldn't change a thing.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
The contractions hurt, but were manageable. I didn't go to the hospital and get the epi until 7cm. My epi wore off as I was about to push. I only pushed for a half hour and most of the pushing felt good because it was relieving the pressure, but I have to say the last two pushes were excruciating, I scared my DH and Mom. That being said, I told my DH that it wasnt bad at all and that I would do it again right after the birth.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
Agreed but I had an escalating dose of pitocin. Although I would still work through those contractions if I did it again.
The anticipation is also the worst.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
The part leading up to going to the hospital, the contractions I guess was the hardest. Although he was 90% effaced when I got to the hospital so he was grinding on my pelvic bone pretty fierce! The pushing,NOT bad at all, so surprised. I felt so focused, I didn't feel much pain at all, just pressure.

Re: Mommies: What's the worst part of labor?
The worst part for me was the delivering of the placenta, because it ripped.
Also sewing my episiotomy, because he had to do it twice and my epidural was wearing off.
