If you have wood floors in your kitchen, what do you have under DC's high chair?

I had a layer of plastic under his high chair (like the type of plastic you would cover furniture with) and I just noticed the floor is getting ruined from it! It is almost moldy looking and the wood is splitting in some spots... I guess because the floor isn't able to breathe?

And I think my cleaning lady was putting the plastic right back down after she washed the floor.

So, what do you suggest for under the high chair? A carpet??? Some kind of breathable mat? Thanks in advance!!!!

I have wood kitchen floors but I never put anything under the high chair. I used to pull the higchair out from the corner, use it for the meal, return it to the corner and then sweep or Swiffer wet jet the floor under him if I needed to.

I guess I never thought of putting anything under it, just cause we moved it around all the time....

I have a splash mat underneath mine. It hasn't done any damage to the floors, but it doesn't seem to help me when DS and DD through their food across the room! I still like having my mat underneath DS's booster though since he does still spill stuff underneath his chair.

I have 20 of those foam squares with the numbers in them. It covers a few feet on all sides of the chair. Otherwise, the floor would be ruined by all he throws on them.

I'm another nothing person...I just use the dustbuster to clean up after each meal and vacuum and wash every few days.

I have a sisal rug underneath it, just bc that's what's under our kitchen table too and the highchair pulls to the table. I vacuum at the end of the day, blot clean any messy spillage or take it outside and hose it down if its really bad.

Nothing, just clean as I go. I have to say I hate wood floors in the kitchen. They are just not as easy to clean as tile. At least that IMO.

we don't put anything down. We let the dog get the food that might go overboard!

We put thick layer or varnish on the floors so as to protect them that way and make then shiny!... I'm really lax about scratches, they barely show up after a good scrub.
