Moms - what battles do you pick? Which ones do you let go?
I battle:
Hitting, pinching, anything that can "hurt" Anything where he can hurt himself
I let go:
Eating - if he doesn't wanna eat, he won't starve! Napping - I'm pleasantly surprised when he decides to nap with me Getting dirty Tantrums - I ignore them, or laugh at them....

DD is younger then Cailen, but I still pick some of the same battles.
For example, she cannot play with her bottle, eat it or it goes away. She can get pizzy about that.
Also, she cannot play with the wires by the TV. Funny how they always go right to what they can't have.

Pretty much the same here! As far as the napping goes, I am VERY lucky that DS still takes 2 naps a day. He gets a little cranky if he doesn't but I won't force it unless we have plans in the evening with DS. If we are going out for dinner, he MUST nap or no one will have fun.

i sound aweful next to you!
battle:
eating! he must eat (we are seeing a speech therapist b/c of josh's eating issues.)
anything that involves him hurting himself or anyone else
rinsing off his hair or washing up when he doesn't want to.
putting things in his mouth that don't belong there...(leaves, a napkin, the dog and cat...)
i give in:
tantrums- he doesn't have many but i ignore them and he stops.
when i want to play properly with a toy and he rather eat it.
getting dirty or wet.
when he wants to run around like a mad man i just let him get it out where ever we are. (except the ped.'s office b/c i don't want hom catching anything.)

the same as you....especially the eating part. If they are really hungry they will eat. I do NOT force them to eat anymore....can lead to obesity problems down the road. If Im NOT hungry, I simply dont eat anything.

Re: Moms - what battles do you pick? Which ones do you let go?
I battle:
hitting, swatting, pinching EVERYTIME.
not sharing and taking things from his sister (I used to let it go, but now he is getting old enough to know that he can't have everything and his sister has nothing)
jumping on my furniture or pulling at the blinds to look outside
rummaging (sp?) through my DVD's or playing with picture frames, etc
I let go:
eating, he is picky and I have accepted it.
napping, he gave those up long ago and once in while will fall asleep on the couch

Re: Moms - what battles do you pick? Which ones do you let go?
Battle- Anything that could hurt him or others around him...
Being "fresh"- telling me "no"
Time out- if he gets a time out he must stay the whole 2 min. and an apology is to follow at the end of his time.
I let go:
Like others have said- eating. An issue I have always had with Ryan and it took me a long time to accept, he is a "light" eater. He eats when he is hungry an amount that is satisfying...
I have also compromised with: what he is eats...
If he wants cheese its as a side dish- whatever... as long as he eats the fruit and the waffle that goes along with it...
and where he eats: Some mornings he wants to eat breakfast in the living room- which is more than fine by me... (dinner time is always spent together at the table- no tv is allowed on, not even in another room, where we can hear it)
I try my hardest to ignore temper tantrums, and then discuss what upset him afterwards...

Re: Moms - what battles do you pick? Which ones do you let go?
I Battle:
DS playing near or with anything he shouldn't be near (the stove, the laptop, the cat's food, etc).
What time he goes to sleep. He's in bed by 8:30, regardless of how long it takes him to go to sleep.
When he bites me. He doesn't bite anyone else, just me.
I let go:
Eating. If he's not hungry, I don't force him.
Napping. Sometimes it just isn't worth the struggle to get him to sleep during the day. DH is much better at getting him to nap than I am.
Some tantrums. I ingore him or make him laugh to get his mind off of it.
