Moms making baby food question...

I'm just starting out so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the coming weeks/months!

I'm finding myself having a hard time to get people to understand how much I'm feeding DS.

I made sweet potato frozen cubes that are straight sweet potato, 1 tablespoon each and I'm thinning it with breast milk when I feed DS. So if I do 2 cubes with 2 tablespoons of breast milk am I saying that I gave DS "4 tablespoons of sweet potato"? I guess I'm making the mistake of explaining the process and they only hear 2 tbsps of food and do not count the milk as the food volume even though store boughts are already thinned??? I'll stop explaining it when people ask I guess.

Here are my first cubes... I'm so proud!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

first of all the cubes look amazing! i cannot WAIT to start making Emma's food!!!!

from what i've read - each cube is considered 1 portion. i don't know how that works out to be tablespoons, cups, etc...but 1 portion is all they need for now..

how i understand it is you can steam, boil or bake the food...and then chop using a food processor or masher...

this is a great site to learn about this stuff!

It depends on their age and appetite. DS will eat 2 cubes most of the time now. Some of my cube trays are bigger than those pictured.

I bake my sweet potatoes and then puree them.

Yesterday I made butternut squash, pears, yellow squash and zucchini.

Today I am going to try chicken.
