please help!moms that make their own baby food- question about serving size

ok, so my mom and sister in law were when they saw that i was giving dd 3 -one ounce cubes of veg and 1 one ounce cube of meat for lunch

my sister in law gives my nephew a jar but she does one veg one meat and one fruit.


i have a variety of pureed single veggies in the freezer. one bag of carrot,one bag of sweet pt, one bag peas etc...
soon i will be doing combo veggies in the blender but but for now, i just take 2-3 diff.cubes and stir them together with the meat.

am i giving too much veg? too many ounces?? she seems to eat the whole thing.

i cant seem to find anything on serving size or meat to veg ratios. my dd is 8 months.
i give her cereal with 2 ounces of fruit in the morning. and lunch listed above. soon i will be giving her a 3rd meal.

what do you give? how many cubes?

Have you ever used an empty jar of babyfood as a guide, before you freeze it? Maybe that would help.

well i figure a baby jar is about 3 ounces.. so i ws giving 2 ounces of veg and one one ounce of meat.

but maybe i should do one cube of meat, one cube of veg and a fruit afterwards?

What kind of meat are you giving her and how are you preparing it?

I am not up to meats yet, but my baby gets 4 ounces, a combination of fruits and veggies.

My DS always ate a combo of about 3-4oz at that age......I didn't really give him meat, but I actually starting making his fruit and veggies in 4oz rubbermaid containers b/c he ate that much at a time.

I give my DD 3 cubes of fruit and 3tblsp of oatmeal for breakfast. I always mix up the fruit. Like Ill give 2 apples and one pear etc.

For dinner same thing only with veggies and mixed grain cereal.

I am not doing meats yet.

I wouldnt worry about it being too much... if she is full she will let you know...i think that is fine... I dont remember exactly what I gave her but i think i usually mixed one cube of meat with a cube or two of a veggie or fruit... it just depended on how hungry she was...

I never measured ounces and I still don't. I just make more than I think she will eat. Sometimes she eats it all. Sometimes she doesn't. It is hard for me because Abby NEVER cries or whines out of hunger.

I had those lil cube storage units and basically I give her as much as she wants until she's full.

Its veggies and meet and youre making it yourself, How bad can it be?

Doc never cared either. She eats what she wants as much as she wants at her eating times and that's fine.
