Moms of ~18 month old girls

Does your 18 month old DD like dolls? My DD doesn't really show any interest. I only ask because I've been told by several people to get Hannah a doll that she can "care" for like I care for the baby. Help her to feel involved and mimic what I do.

Any recommendations on what type of doll is good for an 18 month old. She has an all cloth one that she doesn't pay any attention to.

Lily doesn't really show much interest in her dolls either. She only has a few. There is one that my mom gave her that she occassionally will play with. It's a cloth Madame Alexander doll.

My DS has a boy Cabbage Patch Doll thats the 25th anniversary addition and once and a while he plays with it -- they have so many different types now, so you can get the small ones for her.

Addison is 16 months and LOVES dolls.. but she also has an older sister that has helped with that Chat Icon She is very attached to 2 Corolle dolls... 1 is her security item.. she has to sleep with it and carry it around all the time. We have a million dolls in the house, but she likes those because they are light enough to carry around.

My DD really got into dolls when we got a Little Tikes shopping cart that she could put the baby in the front of (like a real shopping cart). We also got her a baby stroller & she loves to walk up & down our street on the sidewalk pushing her babies. SO I think for us....it all had to do with the right accessories to get her interested.

Not really except ONE...
The key is this.... her daycare sings songs all day long and this doll plays "Mary had a little lamb" So Gilly starts to scream the song like she would in daycare. It really doesnt have much to do with her loving a baby but rather doing something similiar that shes used to.

Leah has a few dolls. Some cloth ones, but she really likes her Cabbage Patch dolls. I can't say that she doesn 'much" with them as far as pretending, but she is getting there. Yesterday, she tried to give baby a bottle. That was the first time I saw her do that, but maybe Hannah will mimmick how you feed Jack.

Kaitee got 5 dolls for her first birthday. At 12 months she would 'feed' the baby and put it in the baby swing. at 22 months she still loves her babies. I would take her to the toy store and fiind a few different ones and let her chose.

DD i.s 18 months and LOVES her "babies". She has been really into them since she was about 14 months. I never really encouraged it she just kind of started one day. Her favorite is a cabbage patch doll.

Now, she has a stroller so she like to put the baby in the stroller. She gives it a binky, a bottle, pats her back and puts her to bed. Its really cute actually...

maddie has a cabbage patch that has a pacifier... she likes it b/c she too LOVES her pacifier.... so she connects w/ it.
she also loves using the stroller- anything she can push- so she has a doll stroller.

DDs most recent dolls (of their 18 Chat Icon) is the water baby - they take it in the bath and "wash" the baby and in their baby pool.

For this age, any doll that doesn't have hair I think is the best.

They also have the whole set of a crib, carriers, strollers, etc. They change their diapers, feed them (I brought back their Dr. Brown's haha), and burp them. There are a ton of accessories for dolls if she does get into them. Oh, and at night we take them for a walk around the block and they push their "babies" in their strollers. Chat Icon

Grace all of a sudden liked dolls around 15 months- before that she could care less. I think getting a doll that made sounds really helped- I don't know the name of the one she has but it talks when you press the chest.

DD hasn't really got into dolls yet. She has a Cabbage Patch and a baby that you can fill with air or water.

I do think she would be more interested if they did baby things, like cry or take a bottle or pacifier.

Also, DD had a blast playing with her cousin's doll stroller and shopping cart with the doll riding along.

Same here. She loves them and loves pushing them in the toy stroller, etc. Yesterday she tried putting a diaper on one.

Ellie is 24 mos and has no interest in them. We got her a few and although she'll use things like a stroller she rips the doll out of it and pushes it around empty Chat Icon

Re: Moms of ~18 month old girls

my dds just started really interested in them. My cousin who watches them has a cute pretend baby changing/feeding/sleeping from her kids. The girls pretend to feed (and pat the baby on the back) and put their babies in for naps. Chat Icon

They have dolls with plastic heads, arms, and legs and a bean bag body.
