Moms of 2+ - sleep question - sooo long - I'm sorry
So, Jack was always pretty easy to put down for a nap or put to bed at night. Kisses - I love you - and off we went.
Since coming home from the hospital with Tyler (4 weeks tomorrow) he has been screaming for both naps and bedtime. I haven 't been doing it - DH has - so we thought maybe that was why. Now that I'm healed more I'm back in the routine again - so that's back to normal for him.
Anyhoo - yesterday he woke up from his nap after 20 minutes screaming and basically thrashing his body all over the crib. It was so bad that I ran up to get him assuming he had a bad dream or something. For anyone who knows me and how I handle his sleeping knows it had to be REALLY bad for me to go get him. Anyway - get him out of the crib and he's all fine and happy. Kid played me like a fiddle.
Last night - put him down to bed - screams - then is fine - about 20 mins later same thing - screaming like a crazy person. DH got him out. Every time he went to put him in his crib he would flip out.
I think Jack thinks that we are partying downstairs with the baby and he doesn't want to miss out on the action. Could this be it? So, just now when I put him down for a nap I pretended that we were putting the baby to sleep also. Jack kissed the baby and helped me put him in the bassinet. He ended up going in the crib just fine. Am I crazy to think this could work? Am I starting a bad habit of having to fake putting Tyler down to sleep just to get Jack down.
WTH do I do?

Carlo would stay up with me late and then Chris would go to bed sometimes reluctantly
Now I am on a schedule where Carlo goes to be at 7 pm
Then I do bath, Diego, books with Chris. He goes down at 8:15.
I tell him that he needs to be quiet since Carlo is sleeping. I show him Carlo in the other crib
Then I walk out and PRAY

I love you!
I know eventually Tyler will be going to bed before Jack but that's not going to be for another two-three months.

Re: Moms of 2+ - sleep question - sooo long - I'm sorry
Right now Ryan is having more sleep issues too - usually it's like Jack - pretty smooth going down. Lately he puts up more of a fuss trying to call me back in. I've been doing all naps and bedtime still - I hand Colin off to DH if he's not already asleep and say Daddy is putting Colin to bed, I'm helping Ryan. My biggest issue now is our construction - we all are sharing the dining room as a bedroom - so come morning, poor Ryan is peaking over and usually can see all 3 of us (DH, me and Colin) in my bed. The last few nights I've been getting up with Colin around 5-6AM and staying out in the den until Ryan wakes up so he doesn't witness that.
I'm not sure if I'm screwing myself by pretending Colin is going to bed too right now - but it's the best I can come up with

I dont think that at 2 years old they have the thoughts "oh baby is still up" so maybe its just a phase????

I say do what ever you have to do for now to get Jack to go to sleep without screaming. It is easier on everyone.
D was giving me a hard time with bed time too for at least a month now. So now, I rub her head say good night and leave the room. She then cry's for DH, he goes in and she tells him to go look for me. He closes the door and she is out in 5 minutes.

I think that he sees that whenever the baby cries, that he gets attention, so he thinks that if he screams and cries, he will get attention too.
seems to me that he has normal sibling rivalry. I would give him some extra attention, maybe put the baby down FIRST, and let him think he gets to stay up late because he is the big brother, then a few minutes later, bring him to bed.

going through the same thing with miki, total sleep regression....NOT FUN so I feel your pain
I have been staying with miki and holding her hand until she falls asleep, this is the only way she does not totally freak out

we did a sticker chart...if she goes to sleep without screaming and wakes up without screaming, she gets a sticker

I DEFINITELY think this could be it. It has happened with all of my kids when we had a baby. We just act like we're all going to sleep and it usually works.
I say whatever you need to do to get him to sleep is worth it! It a couple of months the baby will go to bed before him anyway and it won't be an issue.

Usuallty Kristina is getting fussy when i put Samantha down, so I make a big deal about how "now Mommy needs to put Kristina down to sleep...." luckily she hasn't asked why we can't do that first!!!
