My kids always ate pretty much every 4-5 hours from birth. So they literally went from sleeping a 4-5 hour spurt, to sleeping at longer stretches of 6-8 hours overnight! Chat Icon

more like from 3-5 hours in a night, then it progressed from there. He would wake up at 5, then 6, then 7, and now sometimes even 8!

Re: Moms of 2-3 months old who sleep at night...

Christopher did it from day 1 going 5 hours at night. When he first came home from the hospital he would sleep from 12-5 or 11-4. Then I started putting him to bed earlier and eventually we found the perfect time for him was 9pm bedtime. From there is started 9-3 then slowly built up. By 8 weeks he was going 9-5. By 10 weeks it was 9-6/6:30. Now at 5 months its usually 10 hours straight. From 9pm-7am

We were lucky I can count on one hand the number of tiems DS woke more than 1x in a night. I contribute it to 3 things - 1)him being a big baby 9lb14oz at birth 2) he was always a good eater, by 5 or 6 weeks he was having 36oz a day and by 10 weeks he was on 42oz per day which eventually was decreased but he was getting enough calories during the day and 3)even in the womb he never was awake at night, I never felt him kick at night, it was like the minute I laid down he wanted to sleep too

Re: Moms of 2-3 months old who sleep at night...

It happened overnight for us. DD was sleeping 11pm-3am, getting up for a feeding, then back to sleep around 4am and then up around 8am. The day before she turned 2 months she slept from 11pm to 8am and has only been up in the middle of the night a handful of times since. By the time she was 6 months old she was sleeping 8pm to 7am.

Re: Moms of 2-3 months old who sleep at night...

Kailey was pretty good after the first few days home, averaging 4-5hours, with 2 night feedings (1:30, 4:30). Then one night she woke in the middle of the night for her usual 1:30am feeding, for only a few minutes and then went to sleep until 5am. Then the next night she fussed a little at 1:30, but not enough to wake. She never woke me again for a 1:30am. Now she pretty much goes down between 9-11. Wakes around 5-6am.

I have noticed that she goes back to sleep quicker. It used to take at least 1-1.5 hours from start to finish. Now we are an hour or less.

Honestly it just happened one night and it's been like that ever since. And I try and stick to a routine all during the day with feedings and naps at the sametime everyday. Don't know if that's what did it but I like to think thats my secret.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Same with us. Every week he would stretch it out a little more and just this weekend we hit the 8 hour straight mark!!! We couldnt believe it. On Staurday night he fell asleep at 11:00 pm (I gave him 3.5 ounces of formula) and he woke up at 7:00 am - I nursed him for 10 minutes - and he slept till 9:30 am Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Please Lord let this continue!!!!!!!!!

Re: Moms of 2-3 months old who sleep at night...

DD was a good sleeper from the beginning. I always had to wake her to feed her. As soon as the Ped told me to let her wake me (about 3wks old), she slept 5 hours. It has slowly gotten longer and longer and now we are up to about 9 hours.

You and I are fantasizing together! It is so amazing to me that they can be on such different schedules at this age. DS is still up every three hours but I'm waiting and waiting for the day he decides to skip a feeding. I am dreaming of a full nights sleep Chat Icon

For us it literally just happend one night! I put him down at 11 and he did not wake up for his bottle until 6! Of course I was up every hour checking on him, but now we all sleep a solid 6-7 hours!

My dd doesn't sleep through the night but I guess from these post she sleeps pretty good. I put her down at 7:30 every night and she sleeps until somewhere around 3:00-5:00, eats and then goes back down until 7-7:30. I couldn't handle it if she went down at 10:00 or 11:00. I need my relaxing timeChat Icon

Oops, I never answered your question. It happened gradually. She would get up at 12:30, then it stretched to 1:30-2, and now it's anywhere from 3-5. I'm waiting for her to sleep that full 12 hours. I will be in heaven!!

Re: Moms of 2-3 months old who sleep at night...

I was lucky. From 2 weeks and on DS would only get up once at night. It progressively got later and later until he slept straight from 8-6. We have maintained the 8 pm bed time and it worked for us.
