Mom's of 2 or more: feeling more nervous than excited

With DD I was soooo excited to be pg, this time around I'm beyond nervous. Nervous to handle two, nervous that DD will not have my full attention anymore. We do mommy and DD cuddle time every night and I honestly tear up thinking that it may come to an end and she won't understand why....
I'm an only child and this sibling thing is very very foreign to me...I hate to sound naive but it's true...I've been so emotional over this it's nuts...DH thinks I'm crazy bc he doesn't remember life before his sister, but I just am soooo sad for DD mainly

im totally with you... excited, but super nervous for all of the same reasons that you mentioned. DD is 21 months and doesn't "get it" yet, so its adding to my anxiety.

I'm not gonna lie to you, Jen...it's rough sometimes. DH and I have often looked at each other like, "What the heck were we thinking?!?!".

There are days when it's really tough. There are days when it's awesome. And plenty of days in between. But one thing I can tell you in our case--our DD LOOOOOOOVES her little brother. We were so worried about how she'd be with him, and she is amazing! They are like two peas in a pod!

And it's true...your DD won't even remember life without her little brother or sister. Chat Icon

I have 3 the same age so I think that is easier than having 2 kids different ages.....some days are tough but hey we all get thru it. You will be just fine....

Re: Mom's of 2 or more: feeling more nervous than excited

without going into detail, I'm having a VERY difficult time. I felt that way my entire pregnancy. I was not excited at all. I was sad, nervous, scared and terrified that I may have made a huge mistake going for #2.

I was beyond terrified of how Samantha would react to a new baby in the house. At 18 months old, she really had no understanding of who this new person in her life was. BUT, from the second she met her baby brother she was in love. She rarely shows any jealousy, once in a while, but it's not often. Whenever he is awake (which is ALL the time Chat Icon ), she is constantly going over to him, petting him, kissing him and sharing her toys with him. Chels just may surprise you!!!!

ETA: We also didn't change Samanthas daily routines either which I think made it easier for her. We kept her in daycare 2 days a week, I still took/take her every week to My Gym, etc... other than a new baby in the house, not much has changed for her

Re: Mom's of 2 or more: feeling more nervous than excited

I went through my entire pregnancy with #2 feeling nervous & like I was taking away from JJ being so small. Then again, mine were going to be so close in age. There were nights DH would find me crying in bed bc I just didn't know how I would do it. I do truly believe this is what sent me into labor 8 weeks eary...So don't stress!

There are days where I feel I can't do this & that i need 10 hands to control both kids. Then there are days where I could not be happier & I smile from ear to ear knowing that our family is complete & these two boys will be the best of friends. It has put a dent on DH & my relationship but we are slowly regaining "us"
