Moms of 2 (or more) young kids - who do you put in the car first?
the infant in the carrier or your toddler.
DS is in the carrier and DD is 19 months. I've been putting him in first since he's behind the driver and that's the door I walk up to first. However DD tends to run away from me.
So do I bring him around the car, put him on the ground, load her in and then put him in?
How does it work when it rains? Put him in first?
Just curious what works best for you?

I had the infant seat behind the passenger. Put the baby in first. Kept her standing next to me to "help" so that I knew she wasn't darting out into the street.
I still have them the same way, but now I let her stand on the curbstrip behind me and we talk the whole time so I can tell where she is.

I would open up baby's door, tell Hannah climb in and into her seat, then put baby in his seat. That way both are in car.
Then go to Hannah's side and buckle her in.
That was the only way I could get Josh and his friend into the car at the same time.

When I had the kids on 2 different sides of the car I would put the older one in first then the baby. I would have the older one climb in, close the door so they couldn't get back out that way, go to the babies side put the baby in, go back and buckle the older one in.

In a parking lot I always put the older one in the car first so I don't have to worry about him running away or anything. When we're leaving the house the car is always in the garage so it doesn't really matter who goes in first, but usually I get DD (younger) into her car seat, then put DS in the car, then go back inside to get DD.

i put dD in first (older) and she climbs over and sits in her car seat. I buckle in DS then go around and buckle in DD.

When DD#2 was in the carrier, I would put her on the sidewalk and put DD#1 in first.
When she was out of the carrier, I put her in first with DD#1 standing beside me. I don't think it's possible any other way at this point...DD#2 is only 14 mos. and would dart off in a SECOND!

I put DS in the car first and then I get DD.When we are leaving the house, he follows me to the car and gets into the carseat and will fasten himself (i check it of course) When we are out in a parking lot, Ds goes in first and then DD...Since she is in the infant carrier, I find it easier to put my toddler in the car first, because I know she isnt going anywhere
