Moms of 3 & 4 month old DC's- STTN question
If your DC STTN but has some random nights where they would wake up, what do you?
Let them CIO, feed them, rock them?

At that age I rocked him and if that didnt work I fed him and assumed it was a growth spurt. It wasnt very often at all, he started STTN at 7 weeks.

Re: Moms of 3 & 4 month old DC's- STTN question
at 3m, I would let him whine it out. If whines get more to cry, I'd go in and sing, soothe and put back in crib, to whine some more if he needed to.
DS never really cried in his crib till he hit 5.5m. And then it wasn't even crying it was fake screaming. He learned, that, for that, I would run to him. It took me some time, but I eventually let go and CIOed. I learned I could have done it sooner with him. It all depends on the baby.

I'm not sure what you consider STTN (some say it is a 6 hr stretch, other say all night 10-12 hrs)
My DD is 3 mos. I know she is capable of at least a 7-8 hr stretch so if she wakes before that I pop her binky in. I will try that 3 times, and if it doesn't work after the 3rd, I give her a bottle.

DS is 3 months old. For the most part he sleeps through the night but if he does wake up I try the binky 3 times then I'll grab him and feed him. Usually he sleeps about 9 hours a night but when he does wake up in the middle of the night it's always at 2am lol

Re: Moms of 3 & 4 month old DC's- STTN question
Thanks ladies!
DS will be 4 months on the 29th and has been STTN (8-7ish) for almost a month now. We have been having random nights (last week and then again this weekend) where he will wake up at around 2ish and whine himself back to sleep but then up at 5:30 ready to go. So I will nurse him and he will go back to sleep for like an hour. But last night he was up at 3 and we tried progressive waiting for CIO and he wasnt having it at all. We thought his gums were bothering him so tried tylenol and nothing. By 4ish he has himself so worked up, I picked him up, nursed him and he still didnt go to sleep until 6ish! needless to say we are exhausted today! Thank goodness I'm still home for 2 more weeks.

This is what I did too at that age... always nursed right back to sleep on the random nights she woke up. When she hit 6 months I stopped doing that and either DH or I would just would rock her back to sleep, but she hardly ever woke up in the middle of the night after 6 months.

Re: Moms of 3 & 4 month old DC's- STTN question
DD2 will be 4 months on the 24th and has been STTN since 5 weeks (9hour stretches) and that was before she was put on the meds for reflux. Now she sleeps 12-13 hour stretches at night but seems to have this strange 'fit' around 4 am...every night. I just pop her paci back in her mouth and lay my hand on her to soothe her and she will fall back. She has only had a few episodes where I had to pick her up and rock her for a few minutes to fall back into a deep sleep.
And now that I've jinxed myself by posting this, I think I'll go take a nap since she will most likely have a horrible night tonight

OMG! DD (same bday LOL) had the WORST night on Wednesday night. I had to call in sick to work! She was up ALL night long. We didnt know what t do b/c she NEVER wakes up. We were shocked and totally clueless with what to do!
When she was first born, we had a whole system set up so we could put her back down (room temperate bottle of BM, diaper out etc) and we stopped doing it a while back since she NEVER woke up! LOL
Anyway, I think I did the wrong thing, and ended up giving her TWO bottles and changing her diaper THREE times.
My new plan of attack is I am going to try to let her cry for a while. If she doesn't stop I am going to try to soothe her for like five minutes. If THAT doesn't work I will try another bottle.
that night traumatized me LOL

Awww! It is definitely traumatizing! Hopefully both of our DC's get their acts together soon!
